Same prices at Amazon as well, in case you like them better than Newegg.

Well, this sucks. I just paid $139.99 for this exact hard drive (Western Digital WD6400BEVT) at Newegg on the 17th of November. I wonder if they'll price match the difference...

Deese r marginal dealz. The best 1 wuz the Newegg one for $79.99 and free shipping 4 da Hitachi 7200RPM 500 gigger. Seems like you have to be like a fly poucing on dog doo doo or the dealz end quicklee.

Aye. I contacted Newegg and they credited my account $25, no questions asked. Even though the price difference of the hard drive was $50 (purchased it for $139 and the price dropped to $89), it's still a nice gesture considering that crappy companies like ZipZoomFly won't even bother making things right for their customers.

You'll have much better luck contacting them via live chat. The process for me, once I got connected to a represenative after 20 minutes of waiting, took less than 10 minutes. 'Course, today was Black Friday, and that's the reason why it probably took so long to get connected to a Newegg CSR.

    Man, i am on torn.

    I currently have 5400rpm 320GB.

Should I go for the 7200rpm 500GB and the increased performance?

Or would I be happy with the 5400 640GB with double the space.

Is Hitachi better than WD? (Quieter? Reliable?)

By the time I decide the deal maybe a goner!

This particular Hitachi is better. It's an incredible deal, too.

In general, WD and Hitachi are both about equal, I'd say.

Probably not. If you absolutely want the best, sure, go for it. But if your current HDD is't giving you problems and there's no issue with loading times, you're fine.

    Thanks man! :)

but was looking forward to Hitachi one only!

Heard quite a few probs regarding seagate,
    but some seagates are issue-free!

Even if I order, I have no way of knowing which one of the two I'll end up with! :(

dude, at this point you should just buy it. the price difference is a few lunches at McDonalds. The possibility of it going to its normal price is greater than it doing down again IMO.
