Its important to note that these are the upgrades only!
-

^^ Yes, but keys work as full installs too with the usual hacks.
AFAIK, you can do the following. Install it, and dont activate.
Then REINSTALL and now the upgrade will work. -
ive used the same full install disc 3 times for this and each one works fine with each key. no fancy tricks necessary.
-
wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
^^ Nice ... so you did a full install on a bare HDD and it took the activation codes with no tricks ?
-
i never understood how people could get a full install from upgrades. Isn't that kind of the point to not be able to do that with an upgrade version?
-
So you can get both the home AND pro with one .edu address?
-
wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
You cannot buy two liscences with one email address. -
You cant do a clean install and use the upgrade key, it wont work. You have to do a clean install and then upgrade that way for the key to work.
-
Did anyone want to lend me their .edu email address?

^^ Sweet link !

My dad thinks I've bought way too many things (1tb hdd, hdd docking station, and a sata expresscard for my notebook). Plus I bricked my DVD drive
-
I am not sure if this falls under the category of hack, but I was successfully able to boot Windows XP and 7 on my EEE via an upgrade. I created a partition and copied the EEE factory ISO to it and installed it until near the last step that presented an error. From there I used the Win 7 Home Premium DVD and installed on to the same partition and everything has been great. I am slowly migrating over from XP, but now I get to mess around with 7.

if only this was for people with a .mil address!!! darn you students!

I just borrowed my cousin's address. -
I was lucky, my university gave me two .edu addresses for some reason. Not complaining though!

Or did you have to enter your email twice, to get two links ? -
there are 2 different sites you can enter the email.
www.win741.com for win7 home premium
or
http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/default.aspx for win7 pro
you can get a copy from each -
-
I believe after ordering the first I used the same window I had, had open and clicked the link for professional... It again asked me for my.edu addy, but other than that no problems... Also found out the ultimate steal for office 2007's eula is good for a desktop and a mobile device aka laptop! What a steal!
-
hoorah! downloading right now!
-
you can also order the 32 then the 64 bit versions. the keys work on either though.
-
Is it just me or is the Australia.edu website not working? I've confirmed my alternate email several times, but yet it keeps instructing me to do so.
-

^^Once you enter your email address, you get a login link in email. You have to click on that link

Ah. For my univ email, there was no approval process.

LOL, I just got my .edu addy from http://mail.australia.edu and now the deal is over, rats.

You can still pick up W7 Pro for $30 on theultimatesteal.com. (And if you used Win741 before you can reuse your .edu address a second time there.)
EDIT: And given that 741 is redirecting to TUS with price of $65 I'd pick one up before they raise the price!
EDIT2: While I was at it I tried adding Office to my cart to see if it would let me have second copy after having already got one last year and it did! Not really sure why anyone would want to get 2007 with 2010 around the corner, but thought it was worth noting. Maybe they reset their databases at the beginning of the year? -
Nice, it worked got my MS email password but i'll wait for Office 2010.

just an aside - the ultimate steal looks like the ultimate phishing scam website... lmaoooo... looks like some college kids quickly put that website together! l0lz

After performing the clean install, ensure that there are no Windows Updates pending that would require a system reboot. (You'll see an orange shield icon next to Shutdown in the Start Menu if this is the case).
Then, open regedit.exe with Start Menu Search and navigate to:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE/
Change MediaBootInstall from "1" to "0".
Open the Start Menu again and type cmd to display a shortcut to the Command Line utility. Right-click this shortcut and choose "Run as administrator." Handle the UAC prompt.
In the command line window, type: slmgr /rearm
Then tap ENTER, close the command line window and reboot. When Windows 7 reboots, run the Activate Windows utility, type in your product key and activate windows. -
I'm seeing it on that site for 64.95. Is it because I bought a copy before or have they raised the price?
-
TUS is $65 now for W7 Pro
