There are actually some with the WXGA+ LED. It just takes some time and patience to sift through the specs of each individual unit to find the "pin in the haystack" (as Ziva on NCIS would say)! :D

The best way to find one is to pull up all the E6400s in inventory (251 at the moment) and sort by PRICE in Reverse Order (so the most expensive is first). At the moment the priciest one is $1349, but they quickly drop below $1000. Then I scroll thru the pages until I hit the highest price point I'm willing to pay. So if my max budget was $800, I'd scroll until I hit $799 (or actually $999 with the current 20% off coupon). Then just start clicking on the System Identifier, line-by-line to pull up system details.

You'll find what you're looking for fastest working from the most expensive downward, rather than starting with the cheapest and going up.

If a certain size hard drive, Operating System or Processor is an ABSOLUTE requirement, you can filter the list down with those. HOWEVER, it pays to be flexible in as many specs as possible because your "perfect" system may not be in stock...but there are probably a dozen "almost perfect" ones!

When I was shopping for my E6400, I made a list of all the features I wanted and then numbered them in order of priority. For example-

1-Any O/S other than Vista Home Basic
    2-nVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M
    3-WXGA+ LED
    4-Back-lit Keyboard
    5-7200rpm Hard Drive
    6-160GB Hard Drive or larger
    7-DVD RW
    8-Fingeprint Reader
    9-Wireless-N card

I managed to get 1-5 and 7, but I had to take an 80GB Hard Drive (can always upgrade later, no Fingerprint Reader, and the standard Dell 1397-G wireless card (also easily upgradeable). I ended up with the SWEET 2.53GHz P9500 processor, XP Professional w/ Vista Business License, Bluetooth and Webcam...all of which were gravy on the deal. After the 15% off (at the time), I only paid $662.15!!! :D :D :D

BTW, if you can find one with the WXGA+ LED and Vista Business 64-bit, that's the jackpot, IMHO.

If you're wanting to spend $600, that would be about $750 pre-discount. There are quite a few Latitude E6400 and E6500 models in stock priced under $700. The E6400 has a 14.1" display and the E6500 has 15.4" display, but otherwise they're basically twins. It's hard to go wrong even with a base configuration- the base processor is the 2.26GHz Intel P8400 and the E6400/E6500 units come with the same 3-Year Warranty as they would NEW!!!

FYI- I'd pass on the less expensive Latitude E5400 and E5500. They're only $100-$150 cheaper on average and they aren't as well-built as the E6400/E6500, they are heavier and thicker, AND they only have a basic 1-Year Warranty standard.

Go to the Outlet, click on either the E6400 or E6500 for MODEL, then click 'Filter Results'
Then click on the PRICE column header to sort in order of price

Let me add my thanks as well. I used the coupon to get my first ever laptop today (finally leaving the desktop realm), and my first computer since 2002--got a top notch Latitude E6500 for about $700.

Thank you ALLFIREDUP for posting this. This coupon saved me $227 on my order. Dell's website said this expires on 1/30/2009. I tried about a dozen before this one and they were all expired.

Btw, if anyone wants an old laptop for really cheap, say for internet browsing or other light use:

Dell Financial Services has recently had coupons for their off-lease notebooks. The coupons varied from 20% - 30%, currently there is a 30% coupon available.

I got one of these for someone a few weeks ago, the total, including everything, was $250.xx .

It had XP Pro, 512MB Ram, 40GB 5400rpm HD, CD/DVD and 14.1 in. It was a latitude D600 and surprisingly the battery life is ridiculously long. Ive tested it myself, with internet use, watching youtube and stuff, it got about 3 hours. If you use it for typing school things it can last 4hrs +!

    Anyways, coupon is:

    D3%lpSeries (Exp 1/28)

It is applicable to D-Series notebooks only, you got to:

    http://www.dfsdirectsales.com/

    • Click the Laptops link in middle of page
    • Click the "latitude" sorting field on the top of your results
    • Select a D___ laptop
    • Add to cart
    • Apply D3%lpSeries coupon. NOTE: This WILL NOT update, you MUST
click check out to see the savings. Coupon is applied once you hit checkout and enter your address, but before they ask for financial info.

$340 systems come out to $255 shipped.

    Sample Specs:
    Pentium M 1.6 512ram XP Pro dvd/cd

Note, I believe the 30GB Hard Drives are 4200 RPM while 40GB are 5400RPM.

Anyways, its not so cheap considering a NEW laptop can be had for $350, but if you want something for light use these can be ok.

You also need an account to click "checkout", its free.

Oh, my bad. If anyone uses the SBB8KL3RM1FFWC 20% off latitude coupon (or any from that post) please post here otherwise people will go nuts wondering why its "used".

The Dell Financial Services off-lease laptop coupon D3%lpSeries is multi-use though if anyone is interested in a $250 'ok' laptop lol.
