It has some interesting specs. Someone planned on loving this thing before they returned it.

    9 cell battery, COME ON!!!

The 8600GT is a fairly low-mid performance card. But I got this thing for Schoolwork, DVD's and an occasional LAN.

My 1420 just died a month ago. Bought it in 12/07. So I'm not iron clad sold on the robustness of Dell Products.

When BestBuy has laptops going for $350-$600 (YMMV) with a HD 2600, deals like these dont impress me anymore :D

Um, yeah....that's kinda the whole point of the "outlet" store. They are all returns/refurbs, and each listing is for one specific pre-configured computer. And as soon as somebody buys it, such as Pants did, then it's no longer available (unless they happen to have another one with the exact same specs).

The laptops that Lakjin is referring to are all sold out. Atleast in most areas.

The 8600 Gt has DDR 3, and is an over-all better card.

I couldn't go any less when it comes to gaming.

May as well be an 8400 GS or a GMA 3100.

At the price tag they were going at, they are bound to be sold out now. They have been on sale/sell out constantly for 2-3(4?) weeks now.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=295027

I will save you the hardship of diggin thru that whole thread and giving you an overview:
    T5750
    HD 2600 GDDR3
    4 GB of RAM
    250GB 5400 RPM HDD
    15 incher
I picked one up for $450 out the door. Some people have been able to get it for $350ish out the door.

As far as I know the 8600M GTs in the Inspiron line are not GDDR3. They are DDR2.

And there is not that big of a different between DDR2 and GDDR3 8600M GT cards that it "may as well be an 8400 GS or a GMA 3100".

    8600M GT GDDR3 > HD 2600 GDDR3 > 8600M GT DDR2 >>> 8400 GS/x3100.
All this assuming that the 8600M GT you have is not one of the defective ones.
    If it is... HD 2600 GDDR3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 8600M GT GDDR3/DDR2
    Multiple pacmans for emphasis :D

That being said, I think you also got a pretty good deal. Too bad its a 17 incher.

I only ever discuss quantified results.

I'm not interested in unsubstantiated opinions.

But thank you for your input, regardless of it's relevancy.

You still did not tell me what you want me to do with the link you posted earlier.

Nor do I understand what you are trying to prove.

You think 8600M GT DDR2 > HD 2600 GDDR3? There are plenty quantified results to prove you wrong.

Or maybe you are throwing a fit over my comment on how 8600M GT DDR2 was much better then 8400M GS/x3100? If so, there are plenty of quantified results to prove my point there too.

i just think hes sulking that hed never heard of that gateway laptop before.

I know the HD 2600 XT is comparable to the 8700 GT, so the HD 2600 shouldnt be far behind
