probably a price mistake that will get cancelled, worth a try though

Shoot, I'd buy it and crack the case open to get the 750GB drives and install internally.
If that 'deal' is still available when I get my $200 Dell gift card, I might byte (pun intended). -
Wow, amazing deal! If I had a need for one I'd jump all over it.
Off-topic: Woo 500th post -
Its tempting...ST has recently had some issues with broken enclosures (maybe the reason for the price drop?) according to NewEgg reviews. But I'm interested in the drives, I'll destroy the case when it gets here if I order one. Sooooooooo tempting.
-
just bought it...
-
Just bought two
...VICTORY.
-
Bought one just to resell on ebay or nbr...
Thanks buddy.
-
Its sooo tempting to delete this thread so that the 4-5 of us can squander the goods.
-
I have a 60, 80, and 500 externals already...and 1.5tb in my desktop pc...so i really don't need more storage atm... -
-
Did you guys get an email receipt yet?
-
Yup...I just got one. Took like 20 minutes for Dell to send though.
One thought that occurred to me was that the 750GB drives might have custom firmware, thus preventing me from cracking the case and using them inside of my desktop. Its the same kind of deal with DVRs, where you have to have a custom firmware for the drive to work inside of a DVR (thus preventing user-upgrades).
Worth a shot? Yes, since I just purchased 4 750GB drives for the price of one @ NewEgg. -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
DAMNIT! And I just spent $306 on a freakin' Wii (at Circuit City).
Hope this deal stands up. -
I opted for 2-day shipping, as sometimes that will bump your order to the "head of the class" and get it out the door before somebody notices something is wrong, or they sell out.
-
Sweet...mine just came through too. ETA 02/05/2008
-
I just got two. Sweet deal. I don't know where I'm going to find stuff to fill up 3TB of space... considering I'm fine with my 40 GB HDD... I guess I'll figure something out.
Thanks for the headsup. -
-
Sure about that? Most warehouses use the same software for order shipment, and when I worked at REI's warehouse the expedited orders were priority to get out the door, as the software is default to do this as if they dont get it out a.s.a.p. the vendor must refund the shipping cost.
Maybe Dell changed something that most fulfillment warehouses do, who knows. -
Anyone want a new 1.5TB simpletech hard drive for 375 including shipping?
-
Well, if Dell does not ship mine...I swear I'm gonna argue with them until I get at least $200 in concession coupons.
-
If anything the kids over at fatwallet and slickdeals are going to ruin it for us as most of those cheap fools order like 20 of these HOTT deals at a time, then resell them on eBay so they can pay rent for the next 4 months.
-
...and they won't sell in a coordinated manner either so they'll screw themselves. If anything, Dell will gun down those orders and not ours...
Those drives cost $399.99 new @ Dell, going for ~$70 now. $320 difference. By screwing one guys order of 20, they tick off one guy but keep themselves from loosing $6400 in sales. So they'll go after the big whales first, since they'll save more and tick off less people. -
True, but when you rely on stuff like this for income how intelligent can you possibly be?
-
-
LOL! Someone already posted them on eBay and they havent even shipped yet, http://cgi.ebay.com/SimpleTech-Pro-...oryZ3757QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
-
Actually its a good idea. Even if it sells...and dell cancels... you can still cancel the auction saying that you no longer have the item.
I'm still debating keeping or selling this if i get it. -
I take that back...this could cost around $500 per drive. So $430 difference, and $8600 saved by ticking off one SlickDeals-greedy-boy.
-
I know, people are just funny I guess.
-
-
Aww its front page of dealigg.com now too.
http://dealigg.com/story-SimpleTech-1-5TB-1500GB-USB-eSATA-External-Hard-Drive -
And Dell caught on...
Linky no longer worky. -
-
Yes, I am evil. -
maybe they can be nice back?
-
Wow...I ordered 30 minutes before they canceled the page. *Crosses fingers* -
Haha, I ordered like 5 minutes before they canceled the page. We'll see.
-
Hmm, just got an email from them stating they couldnt charge it, doesnt look like its going to happen.
-
i got one too... i just hope i get to keep it... you know how much legally acquired music i could put on that drive?
-
You know what... if we get our drives...you know what might happen?
We'll be the ones eBay posting, and the SlickDeals people will be the ones buying our drives 'cause they wanted one for themselves.
Again, I illustrate that I am evil. -
-
Or do what I suggested earlier...get Dell Concession Coupons for it. Unlike larger dealers, we were trying to get these for personalrolleyes
use and we're cheated out.
-
Haha i was just messing. But it does sound like he entered his cc in wrong...good thing mine was saved in my account
-
Nope, I double checked CC info. Just bought something earlier today with it on the same info / same card too. And I dont have a spending cap so that isnt it either.
Very strange...
I get the feeling when I call in to confirm CC info the rep will be like, "oh, sorry, we cancelled all those orders" -
.
I triple checked my CC info when I typed it in. I knew it was probably going to be a one-shot. I checked my bank website, and the charge does appear to be holding now so I think I'm safe.
My order isn't canceled, yet, so yeah! -
i got a confirmation reciept... order status will be completed once my payment process has been verified...
-
Yeah, I double checked mine too thinking the same thing, oh well, I didnt exactly have my hopes up anyways, so I'm not too concerned about it, prolly wont even waste my time calling them to figure it out tomorrow.
-
The money is on hold on my credit card...just checked discover cards site. Hasnt been charged..but its on hold. I think im safe too.
-
I managed to add to the cart before they removed the link. Do you think placing the order now will be valid.
