Hey everyone looking for a laptop, just got an email a little while ago about a big Dell sale going on today. It is from 2:00PM to 6:00PM Central Standard Time. None of the details of exactally what the sale is are listed yet, but if you want to check it out, here is the link.

I'll post more info once it is available.

So, it looks like they finally posted the deals on the site, you can follow the link above and use the tabs to look at them all. If you plan on buying a Dell, they are pretty good deals. For example ...

    XPS M1730
17 inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WUXGA
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Extreme X9000(2.8GHz/800Mhz FSB/6M L2 Cache)
    Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1
MEMORY 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
500GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) with Free Fall Sensor
CD / DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    NVIDIA® SLI™ Dual GeForce® 8800M GTX with 1GB GDDR3 Memory
PHYSX CARD AGEIA PhysX™ 100M Processor
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965a/g/n Mini Card edit
85 WHr Lithium Ion Battery (9-cell) edit
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition
WARRANTY AND SERVICE 3Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis
    $3,500

Is it outdated and overpriced compared to a Sager/MSI/Asus/ect? Yes
But if you are buying a Dell, it is not bad. Especially if you stack a 7% or more EPP discount on top of it.

P.S. #2: the m1330 i had compared to the compal i have now, the dell had a lot lower build quality...

    Hey Bud,

You should see the new pricing on the XPS 1730. It now starts at $1600 or so with a SLI 9800 GT. A lot more competetive now. Still a little outdated, and a bit expensive to upgrade, but a lot better than it was less than a month ago.

You are right about the build quality though, unless you buy a business class laptop, the build quality will be worse compared to other brands.

Regarding the XPS M1730, the price they show has been like that for a couple weeks now. Hopefully for anyone interested there will be a better deal at 2:00.
