I think this is a great deal for an entry level gaming laptop: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015PYYDMQ
$799 for a Skylake core i5-6300HQ, GTX 960m, 8GB DDR3L, 256GB M.2 SSD (I believe with room for a standard 2.5" drive as well), 1080p IPS matte non-touch, Wireless AC, 74WHr battery, spill resistant back-lit keyboard... and Windows 10 (unfortunately).
Most at $800 come with a ULV CPU and 950m or 940m GPU and usually no SSD, no backlit keyboard either, and usually a glossy touch screen or a crap 1366x768 TN LCD.
I'm thinking of picking these up for my boys for Christmas to replace their aging AMD with integrated graphics laptops.

You really want a Skylake i5 and 960m?
Only thing I don't like are the arrow keys. They play lots of games with the arrow keys. Then again, they usually play with an external monitor and LCD. Nice thing is that the Skylake mobile i5 is an actual quad core (but with no hyperthreading.)Last edited: Nov 3, 2015TomJGX likes this. -
Its seems and sounds like a solid machine overall plus i honestly cannot afford more these days with my situation. Id love more but yeah so would everyone else
.
As you know a 960m can power through everything fine at 1080p (with a few things turned down or off) and the battery life is astounding which is a first in a long time where a 15inch Windows PC can manage almost 8 actual hours. -
It does seem like the perfect budget gaming laptop. It checks most of the boxes. The biggest complaint I've seen is that the touchpad isn't all that great. But I haven't found one PC touchpad that has been great. I just use a mouse.

Yeah ill never use a touchpad unless my mouse died. I see the need for them or why people use them just like people still use trackball mouse
.
It does check all the boxes you are right. I looked at tons of laptops with similar specs and none can match the battery life and not one of them came with a SSD just SSHD bologna.
Its one of the few aside from Clevo that can handle more then one drive also. -
I can deal with almost any touchpad (as long as it has three buttons attached to it).
