Here's how to get $587 off on the Latitude E6400:
1. Go to the main laptop listing on Dell's Small Business site (dell.com/business/laptops).
2. Scroll down and click on the advertisement that's on the left-hand side of the page; it says "Featured Latitude E6400: Up to 19 Hour Battery Life."
3. Configure it to your liking.

This configuration for under $800 for this type of laptop is amazing. Should I go for it?
This might be the deciding factor for me to go with the e6400 instead of the t400. This -
i tried this, but i always end up getting same price in the end when i add all i want.

Doesn't work for Canada?

Wow, that is a pretty good deal. Why is there no option for a webcam though?
EDIT: Here is a link -
People are going crazy on this deal at SD. I think it is a great deal, if configured correctly it can be as low as 591.
Remove the 12-Cell High Capacity Battery Slice and Solid State Drive.
Upgrade to consider is the LED Backlight for an additional $49.

Wow, that is a steal of a deal, if I wasn't a broke college student
in these troubled times (drink!) I'd be all over it!
-
I' also wondering why is there no webcam? -
-
I'll call them today and get it probably. -
i called but they were closed, so i just placed order without a webcam for now. I'll see if i can call tomorrow and have them add webcam to the order.

The webcam on this must be one of the best integrated webcams I've ever seen personally. Don't be fooled by it being 0.3 megapixel.

It's likely that they might have to cancel and make a new order, but so long as that deal is still available there is not issue with doing that.
Greg -
Looks like it was an error in the system on Dell's part. They have fixed this issue; you can no longer select a non-Solid State drive.
-
-
-
Arghhh....I hesitated until yesterday. Hopefully, it wont get canceled.
-
If you do want the SSD i think dell's prices are pretty good. You can get samsung 128GB SSD there for ~400 bucks? You could sell it on ebay for 600+ easily. Making total cost of the laptop even less. And although the prices for these were pretty good. Reason i didnt jump was, it seems with live cashback you could get similar specs/prices on ebay.
-
I wanted to call to try have them add webcam, but now i'm affraid if i call they'll cancel my current order to create new one with webcam, and then they'll say they can't give me that deal anymore.
-
I just called to add webcam, and no good news so far. They can't find the order by by purchase ID. They said it's unusal but, it might take 24hrs for the order to show up in their database. I'll call them later today to check.
I'm still hoping this deal goes through, with or without web cam i dont care. -
I figured this deal was too good to be true. I placed my ordered on the same day that I posted this, and they haven't canceled it yet, so I hope I get it.
I changed the title of the post to account for the fact that this deal is now dead, but the change doesn't seem to propagate: the title of my original post has changed, but the title of the thread remains the same. -
UPDATE:
Here is where things stand. I called dell today, they couldn't find the order, like 4 times. They said it doesnt exist, so i assumed it won't even go through.
Sales rep said she can create me a new order and try to get me same discounts. I forwarder her my order acknowlegement email.
She tried everything to get me the same price that i configured with $586 and 5% discount, but she couldn't. Sales rep was extremely courteous, amazing service, i spent 1 hr on phone with her trying everything, and then she said she would call me back when she sorts it out with her manager. She said it would be 15mins, it was more like an hour but i didnt mind.
She got her manager to override all the discounts and she got me $586 off (GREAT), but she could not apply 5% discount(GRRRR) as she said that was best her manager could do.
Another thing she had to do add more memory from 1 to 2gb 1 dimm and from 80gb-160gb. I also added a webcam that i wanted.
All together it was $180 more then what i was hoping, but i got 1x2gb ram so i can just add another one without 1gb going to waste when i take it out. I got bigger hdd that i won't need to replace for some time and i got web cam that i wanted.
I still think i got pretty good deal, considering others are probably going to get canceled.
And yeah, estimated ship date DEC 29, too f.. long. I'm hoping it gets done sooner.
Arkanium: DId you get order number confirming your order? Or still just initial Acknowledgement email? -
Double post

Is this deal dead, I am not getting option to remove the 12-Cell High Capacity Battery Slice, i was able to last night, but now that i want to buy, it doesn't give the option....
-
-
It's nice of them that they hounoured the price.
Edit: Update: I wasnt able to add webcam, they said they would have to cancel the order and place new one, and then for sure they wouldn't be able to give me same price. So i just decided not to go with camera, and had my second order canceled. They said, it's confirmed, just waiting to get billed, let's hope it comes soon. Shipping date shows 12-22, hopefully it will change -
I noticed that the price dropped like a hundred dollars on this. While you still can't remove the 12 cell, you can remove the SSD and drop the price below $900 which is still a pretty good deal.
-
It's good deal for people that need 12 cell battery slice. Maybe even if you get it with the slice and then sell the slice online, i assume it would be a good deal
-
-
Well, I got my laptop today! And, for the price I paid for it, I couldn't be happier. I regret that I didn't opt for the back-lit keyboard but I couldn't justify the $50 premium. It's a cool feature and all, but if you're a touch typist then you have no business looking at the keyboard anyway. I can use that $50 to upgrade to 4GB of RAM.
-
Did you receive yours before estimated date? -
-
-
is the latitude e6400 a cheaper build quality than the precision series...and if so by how much?
-
SOmeone who owns/seen both would comment better.
I think the only difference looks wise is screen case. -
Can I get this as a home/home office customer? Is there anyway I can use a Dell home Account to order a latitude?
-
As far the build difference, while there may be some, I don't think it's a great deal more. It's not like upgrading from a Vostro to Latitude or from a Latitude to a ATG.
