oh i thought it was posted in BST forum. if you search google you'll find that many people weren't all too pleased w/ the quality of d620's screen. i'm sure there are good ones but i personally dont want to risk it.

Looks like I can get the follow for about $802:
    Core 2 Duo 1.66ghz
    14.1" WXGA+ Screen
    1 gig of RAM (1-DIMM)
    120 gig HDD
    DVD Burner
    802.11g Wireless
    Bluetooth
    Windows XP SP2
    3 Year Warranty

Is there anything else out right now that can compete with that, and be brand new?

You could upgrade the RAM yourself...but I think that it's a bit tricky on the D620 :p

What did you pay for your vostro? Yours is speced out about as well and you got it when they were 599 for the basic smart value package, right? I got mine for 700 something with a t7300 and a 8400m gs. I later bought my own stick of 2 gig ram for 20 bucks and installed it myself. I have also spec'd out a t61 before using spp and a 10% coupon with a t7300 and a quadro 140 for 822. And I have also done a t61p with a t7300 and a fx570m for 904. Remember you can get your own 2 gigs of ram for 15-20 bucks. That d620 doesnt seem like much of a deal to me.
