Finally, DELL has introduced the Studio 15 notebook based on the new Centrino 2 (Montevina) platform! This is the first DELL consumer notebook available based on the newest Intel platform.

The base configuration is currently priced at $999 (a savings of $409). It includes the following-

    Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    2.26GHz P8400 processor
    15.4 WXGA LED display
    3GB DDR2-800 memory
256mb ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3450 graphics
    320GB Hard Drive
    Slot Loading 8x DVD RW
Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter
    2.0mp Webcam
    Integrated Fingerprint Reader
    6-cell Battery
McAfee Security Center- 15 months subscription
2 year Warranty with In-Home Service

    Here's the link- http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndwra1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=productdetails~laptop_studio_15

FYI- for the sake of comparison, I configured a Studio 15 based on the older Intel technology (still available at the moment). With the 2.16GHz T5850, WXGA (non-LED) LCD display, Dell 1510-N wireless and all other specs/services the same as the new model- the total came to $1103 (after $195 discount).

I agree that the DELL Outlet is the best deal, especially if you have a coupon code. I got mine from the Outlet for $747.50 (with a 20% off coupon) and it was a "Previously Ordered New" system not a Refurb. I built the same configuration on the regular Dell Home site and the best deal (at that time) was $1418. I saved 47%!!! :D

But if the lack of Centrino 2 technology was a deal breaker for anyone before, it's no longer an issue....

The argument could be made that the use of ATI graphics, rather than nVIDIA, is actually a selling point! nVIDIA has some pretty significant consumer confidence issues at the moment.

Besides, the HD 3450 outperforms the nVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS and holds its own against the 9300M GS. Obviously, none of these will suffice for gamers...but for the rest of us, the ATI HD 3450 is sufficient.
