Alright well i got some good news. Dell offers the penryn on the australian site i just looked it up. So expect the US to get the update sometime today or tomorrow. The weird thing is they only offer the T9300 and the T9500 no other cpus. But its a sign of good things to come for us who have been waiting.

man, the reps are saying penryn wont be out in USA/UK for possibly a month?! Thats rediculous considering other countries have it.

I think i might give it til the end of next week myself. after that I will just buy from another company (sony or hp).

If it takes another month its pointless to even get the penryn because a month following that the montevina or whatever will be out and that is actually a significant change. My guess is the dell rep just was bsing you to try to sell you on what they have.

I talked to dell today same bs as normal. The marketing department takes care of that and they dont know when its coming.

also does anyone know if the finger print scanner also works as a scroll wheel inside windows?

how stupid do they thhink we are? They boldly claim $600 off on the XPS, but all they did was raise the base price so that with the $600 off it comes out to be exactly the same as before.

    That is annoying.

The base price was raised because the 256mb graphics card is now standard rather than an option. That is not annoying for those of us planning on paying for this upgrade. However, they did drop the standard screen resolution, which is annoying but overall this new best setup saves you about one hundred dollars on the old one.

I havent had a chance to look at the setups beyond the cpu. I dont even pay attention to the price of the 1530. Once they have the damn T9300 i will look to buy. But the way its going they got til the 15th from me before im going to buy something else.

One of the UK prospective 1530 buyers was told you could call up a Dell representative and ask for Penryn in your 1530. You guys might want to try that.

For all the PM's to me asking how i got it for this price. I just used the best option with the EPP and after free shipping state tax etc this is what it came out to be.

It actually would have been cheaper last night dell raised the price by $20. Also i selected no AV software which took $19 off.

damn JDM you went all out. only thing that rig is missing is the blu-ray drive.

i see people all seem to get the finger print reader. does everyone really use it? i op'td out of it. I really see 0 use for it other then a dust collector. if someone wants to really get into my computer that bad they will find a way anyway :)

How much extra did you have to pay for the T9500?

    It's only 100mhz faster than the T9300.

if you check the dell site from the T9300 to the T9500 its $275 upgrade. pretty hefty price for 100mhz imo. but some people want the best options possible.

so an update i havent posted in here for awhile. Got my laptop on thursday got the nice LG screen hit the power button and i could barley see the terms of service for vista so i tried to increase brightness etc turns out the lcd screen is bad. So now dell sent me a replacement screen and the tech should call me tomorrow morning to scheduale an appointment to install it. Really hope its an LG screen or me and dell will be tooth and nail until that happens.

Good luck with it :)... I did not have any luck with them, so I gave up. May be next time when they have resolved the quality problems.

I got the first one with the grainy & dim samsung screen, dell replaced the whole system. I was so excited to get the awesome LG screen, until I install a program...... the Optical drive was vibrating so hard and was making LOUD noises....

So, no more M1530 for me for now.

yeah my dell tech was supposed to call today he didnt, so i called the company and it sounded like the dude got fired. they have someone calling me tomorrow to confirm the part # and an install time.

The problem is the system has a few quirks right now being that of the LCD screen however with some patience you can get it fixed and have maybe the best 15.4" laptop on the market right now. To me its worth it at this point. My thoughts my change if things continue to escalate without a positive outcome.

I called Dell today and told them that with the current deal ($699 off), I would save more money... They are going to credit my CC and give me free next shipping :D
