OK... let's see how long we can get away with this.

You can configure the same system for $1,779. Keep reading BTW:

Hardware Support Services 3Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor
CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service Add Accidental Damage and LoJack Theft Protection to 3Yr Warr.
Datasafe Free 3 GB Online Backup for 1Yr
As you see this includes the following
Hardware Support Services 3Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor
A $260 option
CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service Add Accidental Damage and LoJack Theft Protection to 3Yr Warr.
A $99 option
Dell Printers Dell Laser Printer 1110 with 90 Day Advanced Exchange
A $89 option
Now assuming you call a CSR, and have those options removed, the system should then price out at $1,779 - $260 - $99 - $89 = $1331.
Further more, if you drop the following items
Downgrade from T7100 to T5250 (-$100)
Downgrade from 160GB to 120GB HD (-$85)
Downgrade from "Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition" to "High Definition Audio 2.0" (-$25)
Remove "Biometric Fingerprint Reader " (-$25)
Your price will be $1331 - $100 - $85 - $25 - $25 = $1096
If you want the system for even less....
Downgrade from 2GB to 1GB (-$150)
Downgrade from 128MB NVIDIA to Intel Integrated Video (-$100)
Downgrade from 6-cell to 4-cell battery(-$30)
Remove bluetooth (-$20)
Downgrade from wireless N to wireless B/G (-$25)
NOTE: These options can ONLY be downgraded by calling a CSR
Your price will be $1096 - $150 - $100 - $30 - $25 = $771!!!!!
Now of course.... this is all theory. Good luck, and let me know if you get it to work.
BTW: If they nuke the XPS from Stanford:
Click on the link below
http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/t1natudoc_brief.php
Pick a college. Type in www.dell.com/[insert college name here]
Click on "Recommended Bundles"
Find the XPS.
There may even be a college out there with a better deal for the XPS....
-
Wait, didn't they nuke this deal a long time back?
I wrote a thread on it a while back... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2096793 and then dell killed the deal presumably because it was being abused... -
So, abusing the educational discount again. How original.
-
They nuked some of the university deals, including the infamous Duke one. It's quite possible that the Stanford one still works.
-
The UW has the same deal. Its not that sensational though, like $50 cheaper than the regular people.
-
OMG sweet find i got a xps m1330 for $821. My ESD is till 10/1 thou
oh well
-
How did you manage to do that?
-
yes id like to know as well i tried almost every one on that list and none of them worked...id love a 1330 for that price.. thanks
-
Now thats some deal man ;-)
-
This is awesome, now I can save $300-$400 and afford a LED screen...
Stanford is the only one that offers XPS from the colleges I've checked...
are you sure this works if i'm not a stanford student? -
I see this for my college. Interesting, might call up a CSR to see if we can take off a few things. ^_^
-
Bump... Great...
-
This does not work anymore. The prices are same as the regular ones. Hard Luck Guys !!!
Dell XPS M1330 - Loaded - $1331 Good - $1096 Barebone - $771 YMMV
