Grab ur M1730 soon. I think its a pricing error. You can get a M1730 starting at 1699 with SLI 9800m GTX included.

My bad. The GPU is 9800m GT. Even though it is too cheap.
-
Yeah it is too cheap for an m1730, but I doubt it's a mistake. I think they're trying to bring this laptop back to the competition.
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Yes but you guys can get a new GPU in cheap price.
-
The GPU is the same but with a different name.
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Yes but the benchmarks shows that 9800m gt is faster than 8800m. Also price wise 9800m gt is being sold for 100% discount as everyone was paying 1k for GPU till last week.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
i posted this in the other topis so ill post it here
It still has a last gen processor, 667 Ram, and G only Wifi .......Im not taking anything away from this notebook but with some of the recent notebooks that have come out i dont know you wouldnt take a hard look elsewhere. Buy it if you like it though..... -
Still not that bad of a price for all of that.

Also I thought that M1730 can handle upto max 4gb of memory but its offering 8gb of memory.

Looks like a good deal! -
Or just buy this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=358365
-
wow this is a great deal for the base system with sli!!!
-
It is not base system. It has T9300, Vista Ultimate, N wifi. I don;t want to bash the other guys sale but, I would prefer this one to that since it has the new graphics.

spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
hope dell offers gtx280m instead of 9800m gtx
-
-
Z, you got to get one of these man. Drop in a x9000 in it and you are looking at a $3000 computer.
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
I dont agree. Just get the base system Core2Duo T8300 and 98m SLI.
Just get a X9000 from ebay for 300$ and sell ur for 180$. I did it for mine.
And now its a powerhouse. -
So you do agree to me.
-
man i am sooooo tempter to buy one again.
-
-
yes it was aweful. but i have plenty of screens available to me so that doesnt worry me at all. id do the same as i did before drop in a lp171wu1 tl-a2 that screen rocks honestly i have to say out of all the large 17" dual gpu notebooks i had this was by far the best built of them all.
-
-
the 901c, the ocz, the alienware 7950, toshiba and the dell. imo the dell was built better than even the 901c construction was far better imo and i may have to wear a helmet after saying that but its imo the truth
-
My D901C creaks a bit if pressed on certain areas. I'm assuming the 1730 doesn't? Would be a great purchase if it wasn't so flashy. Not exactly the sort of thing I want to carry into schools. -
the 1730 is built literally like a rock. no squeaks noises movement of any panels nothing. no noise from the hinges the lid doesnt twist very easy at all (its metal and THICK) the keyboard basically doesnt flex much if at all, i mean it just feel different when you hold it even tough to describe really. also the 1730 speakers BLOW away any other large 17" system i have had
yes the toshiba (and please no one who owns one take this the wrong way) was built like the gateway 17" flex everywhere thin plastics etc...
get the one with the grey wings imo not at all to flashy and the lights can all be simply left off in the bios. personally i think its a much nicer look than anything that is all glossy black. im telling u if i knew this would get the 280 series cars (even though i know they are just a update which makes me thinks this will end up gettings them) id be all over this.. and i still may be -
It seemed pretty well built though, but the owner had the lights going, which was a huge turnoff. Love the warranty + current pricing on the 1730 though. Would be amazing if Dell stuck to it with the 1730's replacement.
I actually thought the FX was better built than the Toshiba. At least I could type on the FX without cringing.
.... ^&* it, I'm supposed to be downgrading to a smaller laptop... not considering a replacement for my D901C.... -
trust me im in the same position i was wanting to go to a smaller system. but im HIGHLY considering this again
-
wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
This seems like a great deal. A very well built sturdy 17" laptop, superb specs, and comes with Dell's XPS warranty..all for a great price...whats to decide ?? -
lol what screen didnt i have. i had all three. the sharp, sammy and the crap lg dell uses. i love lg screens but that one is aweful. im VERY VERY picky about screens. imo the best of the three was the sharp but it was not very bright. the sammy slightly better colors than the sharp but was even less bright and had terrible viewing angles, the lg was CRAZY BRIGHT (which i love) but had a terrible tearing affect and lots of banding and it also had by far the worst light bleed i think ive ever seen on a 17" notebook screen. and just so you know i had 3 sammies, 2 sharps, and 7 lg replacements so no it was not based on one single lg or any of them. but if i go this route i have a couple brand new lp171wu1 tl a2's just waiting to go on a notebook (i bought a couple extras as this is by far one of the nicest 17" screens i have ever seen)
-
did you ever had a chance to use a gateway m680? The wuzga screens they had by far the best screen I have ever seen anywhere including tvs etc.
-
i did use one but honestly i do not remember much about the screen since i only had it for lie 2-3 hours it was a customer unit
-
I don;t know the brand and model but it was one awesome screen with perfect color and viewing angles. Lietrally it had a 160 degrees viewing.
