First off, this forum is great. I am glad I came here before I started looking for laptops. I was looking at the Dell Inspiron 9300 but need a game worthy GPU. They don't offer the 6800 anymore and I wanted to get an NB this week. I don't know if I want to wait to see if they will offer it again. I like the M170 but it is out of my budget of $2k. Also, I can interest-free with the XPS. Any help would be appreciated :) .

actually there isn't any XPS coupons. I haven't figured out why dell does this, but they only offer Inspiron coupons (usually). The XPS systems get free upgrades.

Your welcome. I really dont' know when or if the 6800 will be offered for the 9300 anytime soon.

If you don't care about whether it is a dell or not, you might fill out a Faqs post in Hardware and get some other suggestions. With your budget, I'm sure there is a gaming laptop that will fit your needs.

I filled out a faq a little different and got some good suggestions. I wanted to find out if a gaming gpu is good for a cad program(autocad) or vice versa. Near future I need a cad program and was hoping I could have one laptop to do both games and cad. I haven't made up my mind what to do yet. Thanks again for your help.

Off topic- Any good books to read on notebooks to learn more inside stuff, like troubleshooting, upgrading, technical and the like.

I would just an inspiron 9300. It is pretty much a very good notebook and great value for money. The XPS is a little on the expensive side. You can always up grade a cheaper laptop if you really need to.

I wouldn't say there are never XPS coupons. They had one around Christmas that would take $100 off $1499. Also krazz, if you want an XPS M170 go and look at the dell outlet. They have some for 2k or maybe even under. Ocasionally the have 20% dell outlet coupons. I bought one off ebay for $5 and ended up getting my XPS M140 that was loaded that would have cost around ($1400 New). I paid just under $700! GO DELL OUTLET!
