This morning the Dell X1 was $300 off with the base model being around $12xx after discount.
Tonight the $300 discount is still on but they have jacked up the list price to $2198 making it $1898.
The loaded model list price is $3077 = since when.
As much as I want the X1 Dell's constantly chaning the prices makes me hate the company.

This morning the numbers are (after $300 discount) $1,598 for the base model and $2,477 for the loaded model
So in 24 hours the price of the base model (after $300 discount has gone from:
$1298 to $1898 back to $1598
When I called to ask a question about this I am first told unless I own a small business I cannot even buy a Latitude product. Now I know Dell is a crazy company. -
They tend to play a lot of coupon and discount games. It's gotten better, but is obviously still an issue.

I gave up priceing 700m's in comparison to other Ultraportables because of the stupid coupons.
I should be able to click and get a price, just like every other freaking company out there.
Same with Lenovo's massive website.
No customer should pay extra just because they don't spend hours jumping through all the hoops.
Buying a laptop shouldn't be like haggling car prices. -
With the 3000, and 4000 limit coupons it is almost like a lotto game. Now they offer the 6000 in SB for under 600 dollars but without the AC adapter. Just too, too slick!

I've been checking Dell prices for a few weeks. I finally figured out why the bottom line seems to stay about the same (Inspiron 600). When certain items are thrown in free and/or there is a discount coupon, the prices on the other items they know you will want increase to compensate.
I solved the problem today. I ordered an IBM/Lenovo.

Hi, guys, I can solve all of your Dell problems if you have a small business. I can order for you through Dell and I will get you the best price on the notebook you want. My prices for barebones models won't be too much cheaper than what they are offering, but the more High-end configurations I can save you a thousand bucks or so. Plus, I don't charge tax unless you are in Texas. Usually takes about a week or two before your notebook arrives. I have fully loaded 9300's in stock right now and ready for immediate shipment. $2500.00. Forget all the coupons, my prices are better.

ok first off its called marketing dont complain, i spent hours trying to find a laptop with the right power AND the right price cuz GOOD notebooks out there are worth car's. Dell has good prices and i will also admit they are VERY screwy but not nesesarily with the prices. I called to order a laptop and tryed to use the coupon code becuz the starting price onlline was $200 more then the one quoted in the catalong sent to my door. The gentleman couldnt find the price on my catalouge or onlin he tried to sell me a 9300(which i was looking for) but a "managers special", wich i was not looking for, esPeciallly when he told me the price was like $2200 with extra upgrades i could give two ****s less for. I called back and got a lady and once i gave her all the info on the configuration i wanted things seemed to be going alot better this time EXCEPT when we got to the end. I didnt mention that the %30 coupon was going to expire that very night LOLOL. SO when she processed the order she told me i had to go to a computer to place the order that she couldnt do it over the phone!!! WTF!!!!!
I just found that the %30 was reinstated wich wouldve been helpful by a hundred dollars. I thought it wouldnt come back and bought a 9300 off ebay.
Oh and fyi that for dell small buisness coupons just make up a buisness there not going to back track it dont call them and claim your a buisness enless youve got the info to back it up other then that dont worry about there small buisness promotions theyll still work. Remember dont whine dell has great prices, compare specs to other companies youll see.
Dell keeps changing prices
