Dell outlet has a crazy deal right now... (If you purcahse a 20% off coupon from ebay for $5)

I just purchased a dell XPS M140 with the following specs:

    - PM 1.73 (533FSB)
    - 1GB DDR II (2 DIMS)
    - 60GB HD (5400 RPM)
    - DVD +/- Burner
    - Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluthooth
    - 9 cell battery (7hrs according to dell)
    - Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition
    - 14" WXGA

I got this for only $706 shipped. If you were to configure this right now in dell home, it would cost you $1308 + Tax and Shipping.

Actually that is not correct. If you want 2GB's of ram for the XPS M140, you can not just by ram from new egg. The motherboard has ram built in. So If you don't configure it with 1GB built in RAM (1DIMM) It isn't possible to add more than 1.5GB. With the configeration I got, it has built in 512MB's and then has an extra stick of 512. I could take out the 512 stick and put in a 1GB.

Please read the poast before poasting. I purcahsed this system referbished from dell outlet, you can't add or take away RAM. You get what the system is configured with. And I got a great deal!!! Practally 50% off a new Dell XPS!!

Refurb is not the same as new, specially with notebooks. A coupon on a refurb, Dell is really taking marketing to the cutting edge.

Uhhhh... What is that supose to mean? And referbs are just like new. The XPS M140 just came out not to long ago, so It couldn't have had much use on it before it was returned to dell and fixed, so it is pratacally new. Looks new works new, the only thing that might not be as new would be the battery might have gotten a month of use on it. Big deal. I got the machine for over 50% off the price It would cost to buy a new one and it carries that same dell XPS 1 year warranty 24/7 tech support. And for the Price I can't complain.

Well, I think what luee means is that the notebook may not be "like new". Dell says in their refurb policy that these notebooks may have cosmetic defects and scratches. Also these notebooks may have the "broken-in" look, such as a shiny keys on the keyboard and a worn touch pad.

Hi, This is my 3rd Dell refirbished laptop. The other 2 laptops that I got form dell were 100% minit new condition, and you couldn't tell the differnce between it being new or refirbeshed. Also, if the laptop has cosmetic defects and scratches they will sell it as scratch and dent... There are three types of laptops in dell outlet.... 1. New previously Ordered, 2. Certified Refirbished, 3. Scratch and Dent.

    Extended warranty for refurbished Dell?

    Hi,

Just before Christmas I purchased a refurbished Dell for about $700, or $800 with tax and shipping, so it wasn't that expensive. Because it is a XPS 1400 it comes with a one year Dell warranty, so I didn't purchase the extended warranty. Now I'm questioning whether purchasing the extended warranty is a must? Is it to late to purchase now if I made the purchase on December 23rd?

Any experience of feed back would be appreciated?

Hi, no its not to late. I believe you can extend your warranty anytime in the first year. Just give dell a call.
