Looks like they might cut one or two features, but it would basically be the same as the 2007FPW without the USB hub (which can be had for cheap anyway) and S-Video/Composite-In (which laptops don't use most of the time).
I might pick up one (or two!)

Not bad at all.... I really love my 2005fpw, but I don't actually use the USB hub functionality, and only use the DVI input, so I can definitely see how this new model is a great value.

Oh I would love 2x 1680x1050...hehehehe

heck, after I see a review, I'll probaly be hoppin on this bandwagon, espc 8800's coming out to power the res
-
8800s will take a while to hit notebooks. The desktop version consumes 300W power at 100% load.
-
But I meant for destop to power one of these new dell monitors. Hopefully they will be good quality....
For the 8800's power consumption.... Don't you think some people are going to have to run 2 power supplies out of the same case. We're talkin enthuisiast extremers here who had to already upgrade power suppy when the went from 6800 ultras' to 7900gtx's and now they might even need a second powersupply in the same case!! ghetto rigged.
for myself I have a 680W purepower from thermaltake...which I thought would be totally enough and beyond for years to come, but it looks like If I want SLI on these cards im either paying another 100 bucks for a 600 amp (lol) power supply and another 550 or 350 (speculation of past cards) for the 1st new card.
which leads to your statement, do you think we'll ever see an 8800 even remotly close in a laptop beside in the Dell M2010 ShowStopper Portable PC? -
We probably will see graphics that powerful, when ATI and NVIDIA realize they need to focus on high performance with an OPTIMIZED level of power usage.
Look at the 7900GS, X1600, and other cards...some of them can actually do well against current desktop cards. It just took longer for them to design the cards the way they needed to be.
EVENTUALLY we'll probably see the GPU market move toward a price/performance/power ratio thing much like AMD and INTEL did...look what came out of that thinking...Core 2. I wouldn't be surprised if the graphics market started thinking like that within a few years. -
there is no such thing as a desktop only graphics card.
More than 50% of the sales now are notebook computers.
A graphics card is a notebook card.
There wont be anything released that is desktop only ever again. There just is no purpose to it. Computers are laptops now. vista is for laptops, dx 10 is for laptops. You are merely reading marketing to convince the first purchasers to jump.
there will be dx 10 cards in laptops such as the sager 5670 when vista is released, otherwise there is no purpose in releasing vista.
There is no point in releasing an operating system for desktops. There is no point in developing a game for desktops. Desktops are over.
small niche market of computing mostly in north america getting smaller every day. -
Thats a pretty good deal -
Man, I'm stoked about this one. We use Dell 20" (4:3) monitors here at my university, and they are sooo nice. I've been looking for a good external monitor for a while, and this may be the ticket. I hope they don't start using crappy LCDs to save money like they started doing in their notebooks.

doesnt this deal beat the pants off that dell deal? -
Also I would question if the quality is as good as Dell's 20.1" widescreen monitor, but I can't tell for sure; I don't know as much about Acer's monitors.
Dell to sell 20.1" Widescreen monitors for $289!!!
