Yes I would for a parent, but not for myself.
I mean, this is an amazing deal considering that the laptops that are on for $300-$400 are usually single core amd or celerons -
I've been watching the thread over at slickdeals for a while now. Didn't think I'd have any use, but seems like its fate as my Mom's PC is really acting up, its 5yrs old. So Think I'm going to go pick this laptop up tomorrow for her. Definitely a good deal, just hope its constructed well enough to last a while.
-
This thing isn't for me as my #1 concern is build quality but I hope someone finds this useful.
-
im going to grab one for the girl at my front desk i think its all she needs for that purpose if they still have any
-
This is a fantastic deal - it's in the netbook lower-price range, but it has the power of a typically $450-500 budget laptop. Great find!
-
Thanks for posting this! I'm going to pick one up on my lunch break!
-
I got one for the hell of it.
The guy said they've been selling like crazy, but they still had some in the back. Interesting specs for just 300 bucks, it will make a great project pc (upgrade RAM, processor).
-
I'm really tempted to get it just because it's such a great deal... That's just sad... I don't NEED it, but it's such a Great Deal! Sigh.
-
Yeah, when I went to go pick it up, the guy said he keeps one at the register since they sell so often.
I've been cleaning it up so I can give it to my mom, but its a rather nice laptop. Screen looks better than some 800+ dollar laptops I've seen. Little bit of uneven lighting from top to bottom, but its nothing too bad. For 321 bucks after taxes, this laptop is still pretty good.
Oh, and it only has 2usb ports, so thats a bit of a downer, I knew that before buying, but still, my mom uses at least 3(printer, mouse, camera). So I guess I'll have to go get a Hub.
Its runs ok cool, just about 37-40idle, and about 50-53 running Orthos which maxes both cores at 100% in a 70f ambient room. So temps pretty good too, and as far as I can tell, the fan hasnt gotten loud on me at all. So pretty quiet laptop, which is nice considering again, I've seen 800+ dollar laptops run louder, and hotter.
Overall, this thing is definitely worth the 300. -

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I wonder what the resell value will be once they run out...
-
Not much... $400 max since there's no webcam.
I got a deal last time for 2 Dell Inspiron 1545 with Intel Pentium T4300 has webcam. 2nd day shipping plus tax. Total only $350.
Con is that it comes with VISTA though.
I had a really sad experience last christmas. I got a Sony with T4300 for $400 and another Sony with T6600 for $470. But freaking DHL lost my whole package!!! I was sooooo pissed at them. I didn't even get my insurance money back yet!
I was wondering if I can sue them for the opportunity and time I lost in that package.
Now that I haven't received my insurance money back yet they are still losing my time and opportunity. -
I wont have a chance to really play around with it until this weekend, however my first impressions are, it's surprisingly solid! Picking it up by the corner, no creaking or flexing. The LCD bezel and keyboard show a good amount of flex however, and the keyboard is very mushy, thank god I have an external keyboard.
Only 2 USB ports, but for 300 bucks, who cares? There was also a ton of plastic film to remove when you first open up the laptop, and I mean a TON. I like the textured lid, should hide fingerprints well. Another poster has already turned theirs on, so I'm excited to see how good the screen is, and how cool it runs, but overall first impressions (of the construction anyhow) are, it's well worth the $298! I would seriously recommend anyone get on this deal while you can, the guy at the register last night told me they are selling fast. -
Just picked mine up today.
Have to say for the price it is a decent machine.
The lady at the counter knew exactly what I was looking for when I came in.... guess they are selling like crazy there.
Overall, this will make a great toss'n'take computer for everyday commuting

I ended up taking mine back. Too bulky, and cheap feeling.
-
The sad thing is, this laptop is more powerful than all the computers in my house aside from my T500 and my brother's Core i7/Nvidia GTX 275 desktop. Technology becomes obsolete oh-so-fast. -
I couldn't stop myself. I picked one up tonight. This is my first laptop with the number pad on the side, so I'm having a little trouble getting used to typing on it... and I can't say the keyboard has the best touch, but it's doing just fine. I had it up and running on my network in less than 10 min.
The screen is actually very bright and very nice. I don't have any bad pixels. The laptop is actually pretty solid. I can type very fast and I don't have a very light touch. Sometimes the screens on laptops wiggle when I typethis one doesn't. All the jacks are on the left side which is good for a right handed person like me, and the DVD drive is on the right.
I keep getting mild shocks when touching the headphone jacks on the side... I'm not sure that's That uncommon with laptops, but mildly concerning.
The fan is extremely quiet. I have my TV on in the background while I sit on my couch typing this in and I'm not hearing much of anything from the laptop itself unless I put my ear on it, practically.
All in all, a great deal for about $312 with taxI think this will be my dedicated TV machine for hulu etc. All in all it's more powerful than my ol' Asus, except for the video card... But do I Really need 5 working computers in my house?! *sigh*

eh... if I get tired of it or have any problems I can take it back anytime within the next 15 days... one benefit to buying local.
-
Ha, I love reading here of people just buying one for the sake of it, I wish I had money to splash around like that.

These are _still_ selling for $298 in local stores. I know it says $398 online but that seems to be just the online price. I called a store local to me and confirmed... they only had 2 left so I'm not telling you all here where my store is though
Good hunting! -
This deal is still around ha?
-
Sold out at all of the Walmarts near me. My mom needs a computer and I think this would be perfect for her.
-
A few of the stores near me say in stock, though one that says that said they were out when I called yesterday... the other had two. It's been awhile since that flyer came out. I wonder if they're going to restock and keep selling.
Dual Core T4400, Win7, 250GB, 3GB RAM, 15.6" for $298?!?!
