Ashampoo runs promos of their products on a very regular basis. Some of their promos are for the general public while others are specific for magazine subscribers.

Running my own website that posts regularly about these types of things, I am sorry to say but this freebie is not for the general public. It is a magazine specific freebie meant only for magazine readers/subscribers - someone leaked the registration link.

If you don't believe me contact Ashampoo and they will set you straight.

 

I'm sorry but what is your point? If Ashampoo wanted to restrict the sign-ups they should have made it a little more hard to sign-up so that the general public couldn't just sign-up if that is their intention. This link is out everywhere so there is little to stop the leak now. They'll just have to kill the promotion. Lesson learned Ashampoo.

 

Forget the fact the promotion involves special licensing to that specific magazine and their readers so anyone not part of the group is getting it illegally. How about just ethics? Not only that, but anyone taking it that is not supposed to is potentially ruining it for the people who can rightfully take part.

Here is one for you. I am not sure if you know this or not but Microsoft offered Windows 7 for free via MSDNAA (the academic version of MSDN). So many people wrongfully took advantage of the fact (i.e. non-students were signing up via different methods and getting Windows 7 for free) Microsoft pulled Windows 7 from MSDNAA. Currently they are "reevaluating" the situation; who knows if Windows 7 will be put back up. I would be mighty pissed if I was a student who missed out because of the actions of other people who had no right interfering in the first place.

Of course the above mentioned Windows 7 issue is a worse case scenario that only occurs if a promotion gets too popular but nonetheless it gets my point across.
