Buy.com is having a free-after rebate offer of a four-pack of SD cards

You pay $1.95 after the rebate, but get free shipping.

If there were just a way to smash those SD cards into one.

Does it have to be into one? Can't it be, into many, many different pieces?

Edit: Good deal for use as new age floppy substitute though.

do you really prefer these over a DVD as a floppy like option? Plus I can never bring myself to buy anything with a mail-in rebate...

I have tried about 5 or 6 "rebates" over the years and never received a single check back. If it is such a sure thing then the store should be the one to deal with it not me the buyer.

Yah they're more compact and durable than a DVD-R, which can run into compatibility issues and takes forever to burn. On the other hand DVD-R's get more than 4 GB's of storage. My MIR to Kingston for a 512MB flash card came in a month and a half after I sent it in.

This is unfortunate. I had had my fair share of bad luck, but I have always been good about keeping tab of my receipts and UPCs, so I call the rebate people to make sure my check is on the way.

OK, that really makes sense that the convenience and compact size are excellent. Might even give a guy a chance to actually use the memory stick wallets that seem to have found their way into my storage drawer. ;) I might get a couple and see if I can actually get some use out of them.

Oh, I did all that stuff too...finally I just decided it costs me more in billiable hours then the rebates offered in return and I am not going to spend my free time on hold to get a $30 rebate. I just decided I am a bad deal magnet and just say no...hehehehe...but they must work because people get them all the time.

I'll tell ya one thing. It sure keeps me from jumping at the first deal that on the surface looks great but is all rebates when they get you in the door...so in a way not buying items that offer them saves me money. :D

I also stay away from rebated items... never had good luck with them, though my parents have. They hate them, but they've gotten them. Still, $35 for a 1GB SD card isn't a bad price, nor is $40 for 4 256MB SD cards.
