That seems a pretty awesome deal. How does the X-25V differ from the X-25M?
-
The X-25V has a smaller capacity and slower read/write speeds than the X-25M.
-
Out of curiosity, how much slower?

I dont think its worth it, you can find the 160gb G2 @ $450 normal going price

On sale for less, so your paying $100 for that little 40gb V series so unless you have some really good use for it there is no point. Since your buying the 160gb G2 to get the 40gb one I cant think that many people would have a use for it. -
I'm not sure that it means anything, but the one you linked is a SSDSA2MH160G2 C1, while the Newegg one is a SSDSA2MH160G2 R5. I would suspect that the R5 might stand for a retail drive, because the site you linked has an R5 listed as a retail box item for about $500, but I really have no idea.
-
The R5 has the 3.5" bracket for desktop installation whereas the C1 does not. Yeah, it's not that great of a deal unless you want to upgrade your desktop and a notebook with SSD's at the same time.

I find myself going to Provantage more often than not over Newegg. Better prices and a massive selection. You won't get your items as quickly, but the savings are massive.
Newegg still has the advantage for some hardcore items and fast ship/receive times. -
The OEM version @ Newegg is $489 free shipping UPS 3 day guaranteed-- still $34 more than from Provantage minus shipping costs. You could select next am delivery from Provantage and still save a couple dollars over Newegg.

I'm in Jersey, and 99% items ship same or next day and are here the next day (IE, order Tuesday morning, shipped Tuesday afternoon/evening, here Wednesday) even using free or cheap as dirt shipping.
It isn't only the proximity of Newegg's warehouse but their very fast handling of the items.....BUT.....
Provantage's pricing is usually much better and I'll gladly wait a few days to save a decent chunk of change.
In order I try:
Provantage
Multiwave (Mwave)
Zipzoomfly
Newegg
Mainly because I am charged NJ sales tax from Newegg on top of the other places sometimes (or in the case of Provantage most of the time) having better pricing.
