Supposedly, Microsoft is having a back-to-school promotion, and you get a free Xbox 360 with every new computer purchase (At least $699, being a student):

Microsoft offers free Xbox 360 with back-to-school PC, professors shake their gray, uncool heads -- Engadget

Also, on the Dell main page, there's a link that says "Xbox student offer":

    http://www.dell.com/us/p/

So Dell is one of the partners, and since Alienware=Dell, I'm thinking this offer will work with all new Alienware purchases too. Perhaps someone can confirm with a sales rep?

Nice! Of course if Microsoft would just make the new Halo games for PC, I wouldn't even want one.

It's sad that those who bought one earlier, cannot get one. It really is a pity to buy early. :(

Frankly, I'm not sure how much this tactic will boost profits for Microsoft. On one hand, a student with an Xbox is probably going to buy games at some point, which means licensing $$$ for Microsoft. But on the other hand, I'm fairly sure that everyone who wants an x360 has one already. Either way, freebies never hurt anyone.
