The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. Just gotta say been building PC's and working on electronics for over a decade and never once had an ESD accident and I never had to use any special device or equipment.

I just make sure I touch ground before I sit down to discharge any static, even just touching the metal computer case of a desktop will work. You almost have to try to get a static charge and then go touch something sensitive like a stick of RAM directly before grounding on something else.

That said $40 sounds really expensive to me for this.

I was also gonna say $40 for an anti static mat sounds insanely expensive. Maybe $5 if you really need one at all? Most people who are putting together computers don't need this.
