    Here are the two notebooks that I am interested in buying:

    Fujitsu Lifebook A6120 http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11286122&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|84|56670|62882&N=4018587&Mo=1&pos=3&No=1&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=62882&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC10590-Cat56670&topnav=

    Toshiba A305-S6864 http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11296140&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|84|56670|29722&N=4017753&Mo=6&pos=7&No=1&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=29722&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC10590-Cat56670&topnav=

    Here are the questions that I have regarding these two notebooks:

    1. Why is the price of Fujitsu more expensive than that of the Toshiba despite the fact that it has less RAM and its CPU speed is a bit lower?

    2. Is the CPU on the Toshiba notebook (P8400 2.2 Ghz) from the same line as that of the Fujitsu (T8100 2.1 Ghz)? That is, are they both from the intel core 2 duo notebook family line?

    3. Which one would you purchase? and please explain =P

    All input is greatly appreciated =)

    Here are the questions that I have regarding these two notebooks:

    1. Why is the price of Fujitsu more expensive than that of the Toshiba despite the fact that it has less RAM and its CPU speed is a bit lower? I'm not sure on these model, but Fujitsu generally are better quality notebooks than Toshiba. Also it said it had a 300 nit screen, I think most notebooks have like 200 nit, so it would have a brighter screen most likely.

    2. Is the CPU on the Toshiba notebook (P8400 2.2 Ghz) from the same line as that of the Fujitsu (T8100 2.1 Ghz)? That is, are they both from the intel core 2 duo notebook family line? OK, both are Penryn processors, but the P8400 is for the new Centreo 2 from Intel. It has a bigger frontside bus, and faster clock speed, so it's the better of the two.

    3. Which one would you purchase? and please explain =P I can't really say. I would go with the Toshiba hands downs if I knew it had better build quality. I know very little about either of those notebooks, so maybe someone else will be more help there.

    All input is greatly appreciated =)

    The only reservation that I have with the Toshiba is that it has Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition. It's my understanding that this will inevitably cause many problems with drivers and compatibility.

    I don't know about the Toshiba, but I just purchased & returned an A6120. It is actually a very nice laptop...solid build. The display was bright & clear, but the viewing angles were unacceptable for me.

    This was my first laptop. So though I use several LCD monitors, maybe it's just the nature of laptops to have poor viewing angles. To give you an idea of how limited the viewing angle is, simply changing my seating posture would put things out of whack & require a screen adjustment.

    I know lcd monitors employ different technologies in their panels, TN, S-PVA, M-PVA, S-IPS, etc. So I need to keep looking & find a better laptop screen.

    Good luck to you!

    Yeah laptops aren't great when it comes to viewing angles. Some are better than others though. I just got a Dell XPS m1330 with the LED screen and the viewing angles are really but fall the compare to a LCD monitor. Still the best screen on a laptop I've see (I've seen few though).

    I over looked the 64 bit OS. I know there are driver issues, but I would think that if the laptop comes with 64 bit the drivers for the computer it itself would support 64 bit. So it'd be a matter of what other things would you need drivers for that might be a problem? I could be way off though. Could you reinstall the OS with 32 bit maybe?
