    THat is still not as a good deal as what you got your own notebook.

    Well, yeah. I like my Vostro more...but for someone who only wants a laptop for doing basic things, $350 for one without any rebates (and only about $400 after a upgrade to 2GB of RAM) is a pretty good deal. And at any rate, last time I checked Dell no longer has nearly as good deals on the Vostro 1400 (still good deals on the Vostro 1500, but that weighs about 1.5 or more pounds more than the Gateway)

    step dad picked one up for email ect. the screen looks great stuck in a 512 stick i had laying around (1gig total) ran fairly well it did have some problems with dvd playback but i hope that can be worked out
    gosh they are tinny compared to a 1700 vostro (= very portable
