    Why?

They aren't exactly in the same class of machines. The Envy 15 is a relatively portable mobile powerhouse, while the NV7901U is a decently built and spec'd DTR.

yea, the 17.3 was a deal breaker for me. If it was a 15" i'd be all over this.

    why not?
Bigger screen, 1600*900 instead of that horrible 1366x768
    Bluray
    500gb
    off the bat

They are totally different type of machines. They are both nice in their own way, but they are not exactly competitors.

Welp, Ive had the x83vp-A1 for about 2 weeks and been having quite a fair amount of probs.

Been searching for a new laptop, and Yay! Thanks, this is exactly what I've been looking for. I mainly bought a 14" as it had good specs for price. But after all the problems I've had with it. I'd be glad to go back to a 17" form factor.(last laptop was 17")

This Asus is going back for sure, hello Gateway nv7901u! :D

Dont forget Bing Cashback for J&R. Its at 5%, so you get back $42.45 from bing.

    Makes this price even better!

I picked this laptop up on Saturday 27 Feb 10 for $892.49 out the door. My local Micro Center had 12 in stock at the time. I can say one thing about it right now and that internet browsing is blazing fast. About 1 to 3 seconds and the page is fully loaded. Im using the N card in the laptop with a Actiontec Verizon router and it has a strong signal with no drop outs at all. Hopefully get back with a full review soon.
