Didn't see a proper thread for it, but some people are already aware of this deal.

Starting tomorrow the new Gateway FX P-7805u will go official at Best Buy. Here's a link to the ad scan with the price of $1049 in it.

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/sales/bestbuy.htm

If you happened to snag one already, congrats. If you bought one at $1149 be sure to go in and get your price adjusted. :p

Specs are exactly the same as the P-7801u here

Many have also confirmed a 17" WUXGA 1920x1200 screen instead of the claimed 1440x900 resolution. My best buy has a couple of these so I may make a stop up there in the morning.

Great deal given the sweet specs. Better than Black Friday. :)

Yeah, so much for those people that were bidding on all the 7811 refurbs on ebay for more than what the 7805 goes for new. I'm glad that I waited. May be heading to BB this week to pick one up.

. I bought my P7811FX for $1249 less than 2 months ago. Funny how in 2 months, it devalued by 20% :( Technology moves very quickly.

How is this compared to the 7811? And can someone please give a seconf confirmation as to it's screen resolution? 1440x900 is not acceptable on a 17 in my book.

Yeah I bought one two days ago, it is a WUXGA even though the box says WXGA. Best thing you can do is have them open the box up in best buy and check it for yourself.

It's a typo. Everyone that has bought it has confirmed it has a 1920x1200 screen.

Was just at Best Buy. Changed the settings on the demo model myself. Can confirm 1920 x 1200, even though the sticker on the demo model says 1440 x 900.

I was so tempted by this deal. If only Gateways weren't such crap, I'd totally buy one.

I have 3 and REALLY like them. Everything but BUILD quality. It's just not up to my Dell XPS standards. :-( But it wipes the floor with it in performance. :D
