Very nice. Too bad about the hideous logo on the back. I prefer the simpler designs on the earlier FX models.

I would go with the asus g60 just based off the better quality and looks.

Quality? How so? The FX series is actually fairly decent with exception of the screen frame.

My old P-7811-FX build was really good (I would say it matches up to any other laptops I had/have XPS 1710/W90VP/X83VP/HP Dv9300) , only thing is the piano black back is a finger print magnet .......

FX series actually has one big build issue, for me anyway. The screen is too flexible. I would have paid extra for a strengthened screen.

i dont think that build quality is much issue...Asus runs a hotter than gateway....gateway is finger print magnet...hehe...both have goods and bads...!!!

The main difference is DDR3 ram in Gateway FX versus the faster HD in Asus...and then its the screen size/resolution (17" vs 16")

and lastly the $100 price difference..!!!

You missed out one big difference, CPU is faster in the Gateway.

DDR3 RAM shows little difference currently.

Larger slow drive vs. faster smaller drive could mean that performance could be quite similar.
