I get an error with the link in the original posting, but this is the only XPS M1530 I found at Best Buy with a Blu-Ray drive- LINK

For $740, it'd be a deal even without the BD-Rom drive. The T8100, nVIDIA 8600M GT, Vista Home Premium 64, 4GB RAM and Wireless-N capability make it a nice setup. Unfortunately, the vast majority of 15.4" laptops in retail stores have the basic WXGA (1280x800) resolution. It does have an HDMI port to output to HDTV, though. :D

    Snag while you can!

If the price is really $740, definitely.

I did a double take when I saw the price. I was told that the model was in clearance b/c of a new upcoming model. My question what's the point of a Blu-Ray drive if the resolution is only 1200 x 800? Also, what's the reliability on these suckers?

I guess I shouldn't be complaining for the price.

Yes the model was recently replaced by the Dell Studio XPS 16, and they are just trying to clear out the old(er) XPS M153o model. As to the Blu-Ray drive, the M1530 has a HDMI port so you can output HD video from the Blu-Ray drive to a HDTV. The reliability is the real question here. The M1530 has rather high failure rate due to the defective nVidia 8600m GT GPU. I'm not sure they sorted out the problems with that or not. I do know that Dell has extended the warranty one year past the normal warranty on the video cards though.

I just got it and so far it looks awesome. It also comes with 64-bit Vista Home Premium. For anyone in the area, there's only 1 left at the Santa Clarita, CA Best Buy.

Good for you! I'm a little bit envious! :p I've always liked the look the XPS M1530 but never got around to buying one. The design is almost two years old now and it still looks great, IMO.

    You got a DEAL! Congrats!

I got a M1330 and you're right the design is still one of the best despite being several years old. Still I'd trade it for the durability of a Latitude or ThinkPad without a second thought.

Yeah, there's a reason I own two Latitude E6400s and not an XPS...although the XPS good looks rubbed off a little on the Latitude E-series, IMO. :D
