You don't have to configure up to $1299 with the Vostro 1500 to get the discount! It says that at first, but if you configure just up to $1249 and then go to the cart, you still get the $500 off. I just bought a machine and only configured up to $1262, and I still got the $500.

So there's no need to add on an extra $50 of crap you don't need just to meet the minimum. :)

    Spread the word!

The business Dell site only has it for the 1400 model.

    I just specd this out:

    That is a good price.

I was thinking about buying ThinkPad R61 with similiar specs. I would have to spend a little more though. How does the Vostro compare to the Thinkpad?

Thinkpad is thinner and lighter, with a higher build quality.
Speed will be the same if you select same components.
I'm sure the Dell screen is superior though.

Unless they changed it in the last 24 hours, the $500 off is good for the 1500 or 1700 as well.

This deal is amazing, I just took advantage of it since I am goign to be traveling a lot...

But I did price it with 3gb ram and a 160gb Hdd. i also went with the 8100 core 2 3mb cache. I spent around $8xx.00 before shipping.

Don't know if that means it expires on midnight of April 2 or midnight of April 3 or what.

Yeah, it seems like a good deal to me. Wish I'd gotten the t8100 for another $50 instead of the t7200--but since the only programs I use are Word, Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat, I'll probably be OK.
