    Long DEAD.

Updated to show rebate check received 8 - 10 weeks after rebate form submitted.

    Submitted rebate form around 3/18/09.

    Rebate check received around 5/22/09.

    ***************

Saw this on fatwallet forum. According to zipzoomfly link, Rebate expires 03/28/09

I'd been on the fence about getting one of these due to the vibration reviews but I decided the positive reviews outnumber the bad so I went for it.

It vibrates a little more in my thinkpad than the previous 100gb 7k200 hitachi (which I couldn't notice at all). But to me its definitely not a deal breaker. This is an awesome deal.

Yes and perhaps the mod could add the "AR" to the title too (in place of Travelstar if space is an issue).

Swuuuhhweeeet :) I need to upgrade the HDD in my Precision M90 which has a 60 GB 5400 rpm drive with dual boot.

I'm also considering if I should get one for the 2nd HDD bay of the Precision M6400...or if I should wait even more ?

Its also nice that the rebate amount isnt exhorbitant

Wow, I paid almost $100 for the 160 gb version last year. Anyone with a slow drive should jump on this upgrade.

Makes me sad, because I like swarmer bough the 160gb model for $110.
I bought three of them. All great drives, would have been better if I waited a few months, cause it would be sweet to get three for $50, would have saved me $180

Absolutely a great drive, never had a problem with the 7K320, and most of mine have over 2000hrs of use now

Same here, from dec. But the tracking site said I have been approved and that they are just processing the check. Will have to bug them soon if it doesn't come.

I submitted my rebate last year on August 2008. I got my rebate with no hassles about a month or two later. Don't know if things have changed?

What?? Thats' insane. These people who you mention that did not get their rebate. Was it for this specific drive from Hitachi or various products from ZZF or in general. Could you provide an example?

I will say that in general getting back rebates on anything is getting more chancy. I was denied my rebate for contact lens once from one company and still haven't got back another rebate for contacts from a different company. I also never got back a rebate from Circuit City that I submitted like 2 years ago. What a bunch of con artists. Up untill recently, I never had a single rebate not come in, and I put in a lot of rebates for all kinds of stuff.

Hitachi ZZF. Like many of the others who purchased it in Nov/Dec, their rebate page shows that it's been processed but that's been the case for over a month.

My mistake. My pending rebate is hitachi from tigerdirect. I wouldnt worry too much. As long as you have copies of the paperwork and submitted everything correctly, zipzoomfly is a reputable dealer and should be ok

My bad, mine's TD too. The problem doesn't seem to lie with TD, but with Hitachi instead, if the Slickdeals thread linked a few posts ahead is accurate.

I seem to have a similar problem with mail in rebates with Toshiba

ANYTIME i sent Toshiba rebates i never get anything back and ive sent them quite a bit of rebates maybe its a company specific problem.

FYI, unfortunately it looks like the price went up again per link:

Updated Price Wed, 3/11/09: $79.99-$20 MIR = $59.99 AR free shipping

    Rebate still expires 03/28/09.

For anybody that missed the original sale, as of the last time I checked this (yesterday), it appears the price is back to it's original sale price of $49.99 AR w/free shipping.

I added one to a cart and the free shipping option was still there.

I received mine last weekend during which time I installed it. Thumbs up from me and no real noticeable vibration. The extra room gave me a chance to load Windows 7 along with my Ubuntu and XPP partitions.

I'll probably check this again sometime before the rebate expires on 3/28. Still have to mail mine in.

About the rebate. ZZF is not doing the rebate. If you have looked at other online stores, almost everyone has the same rebate. The only difference is the name of the store that it's "exclusive" for. Hitachi is doing the rebate and people said they were in the last stage of the process for a long time now since November. Just check it out at slickdeals, nobody posted that they got their rebate since then and I can tell you that if some people did, they would say so.

    FYI,

Got my $20 rebate check earlier this week. I got this hard drive back around mid March and mailed in the rebate form around that time. I never got an email informing me the rebate was on it's way and it had been about a month since I checked on the rebate site. But it came about 8-10 weeks after submitting the form.

If your month old purchase was for the same deal that I purchased, then one probable reason for it being invalid is the rebate was supposed to expire on 3/28/09. A month ago would have been too late. If it's a different rebate offer, then I can only suggest you contact Zipzoomfly or Hitachi to find out exactly why its considered invalid.
