They are almost disposable nowadays. I wonder if people are going to get trampled like last year for the $40 DVD player. The no rebates is huge.
-
they must have cut corners somewhere on this thing, maybe the plastic used in the casing was melted down from recycled grocery bags or something. lol.
I'm going to get a lawn chair and go to Wal Mart Friday, but not to lineup to buy anything, but rather as you say to watch the guaranteed entertainment of an early morning stampede. -
just told my mom. shes getting one. she needs word and powerpoint. and itunes.
best bang for tha buck -
btw some one has detailed spects on the thing?
and how does this compare the the black friday deals.? -
Just a heads up the price is based on where you live. It's $378/398 and $488 in most places, in WI it's $632 because of state law prohibitting in such business practices.

As for their cost it's a hair over $600 acording to their scanners. They are selling them at a loss to get people in the door so other businesses suffer and so they push other businesses out of business. -
Do you think it's worth the price ($378)? I now have an older IBM Thinkpad 600x (500Mhz, 128 RAM) which I'm thinking about replacing with this ze2308wm. This is my first time on this forum. What do you think?
-
-
ThinkPad will still be more solid. The HP case is plastic. You are looking at $150-200 to upgrade the ThinkPad with a faster hard drive and more memory. It is a tough call.
-
I think I'll give the HP a try. For the price, I can't get hurt too bad.
Thanks for the quick replies. -
Zazonz,
You mentioned that it would cost $150-$200 to upgrade the IBM 600x to a faster processor and more RAM. I don't think it's upgradeable past what it is now. I'm not that smart on laptops, so do you know something I don't concerning this?
Thanks. -
What Sub $400 HP Laptop from Wal-Mart?
I just looked at my Wal-Mart ad for Friday [the paper one that was in my mailbox] and the HP ze2308wm is $488!!! I think this is a TURKEY joke.

To see the $378 price, use 34228. I know it works down here in Florida.
-
Yeah in Chicago its at $378, Might pick one up.
-
I got the add for our walmart and it was at 488, the bigger city nearby (Cedar rapids , iowa) said 388. I went online and the as for our area said 378 no matter where you go. Now im hearing that walmart put them all down to 378 to compete with Best buy and other retailers. Anyone else hear of this? I really dont want to stand in line and find out it is really is 488 and not 378 and walk out empty handed.
-
They usually will nock it down if you have a lower priced ad, with the exception if the sale price is $632....then they won't.
-
The paper circular we got in my area said the HP would be "also available at walmart.com," but when I went to the site, it said "available in stores only." *sigh*
My husband got up at 4am to try and get one, and when he got there, there were 150 people in line ahead of him. The people at the front of the line had been there since 2am! No laptop for moi. -
As a Wal-Mart employee working in electronics, I couldn't resist posting a reply here. The store I work at received only 15 of the laptops for the black Friday sale, (in-store) and as you can imagine that in and of itself caused a lot of stress. The cart holding them was moved to 2 or 3 different locations prior to the sale start because of the crowds. I do not defend the actions of the stores, what I wanted to make a point of is the fact that all of those "special buys" for the Friday sale, all the media hype and advertisements are geared to bring customers through the door - nothing more. The logic behind selling them at a loss is to get you to buy "something similiar" at regular retail markup after all the "special buys" are gone. Wal-Mart is a retailer in the business to make $$$, and that's the bottom line.
HP / Wal Mart Laptop is $378 (no rebates needed)
