For those interested in gaming, note that the FX2700M is the workstation version of the 9700M GTS.

FX2700M is a very good card with 256 bit interface. It should run games very well.

Is this with the DreamColor screen or not? I can't tell from the description.

No, but given that there is no noticeable performance difference anyway, that's a moot point.

This is really a fantastic deal - wow!

As in it runs warmer? If it does, it does not run significantly warmer. RAM is not generally a significant source of heat in a system anyway, other components such as the CPU, GPU, WiFi card, etc are much more significant generators of heat.

DDR3 does uses slightly less power than DDR2 DIMMs, but again, the difference is negligible and the majority of power usage is not from RAM but from the screen, GPU, CPU, etc.

    Hi there sppeng.

This is a great deal for the following reason:
    1) Good GPU
    2) Business grade laptop
    3) Professional GPU, which is much more expensive than a consumer GPU
    4) Rugged design
    5) Full WUXGA display
    6) This laptop is very expensive on its base config
    7) The GPU is very high end and so is the CPU
    8) The design of this laptop is very resistant
    9) The BQ is superb

    In addition:
    1. 3 full years of Global Warranty!
    2. Perfect build quality.
    3. 2 operating systems + Win7 upgrade.
    4. Slot for docking station.
    5. Option easily replace optical drive with second HDD >> support raid 0 and 1 in that case.

I own a 8710w that i ordered from ebay for $950 5 months ago and this machine is amazing. I have Quadro FX1600M and not high-end 2700 like 8730w.

    damnit!
I was trying to get in on this too, but won't be getting my check till Saturday. I figured it would be sold out before then... I bet some business purchased the entire inventory and we'll probably see them on ebay with a $500 markup

I figured they were just blowing them out since a new line of elitebooks will probably be out soon.
Oh well, 17" is a bit larger than I really wanted anyhow. I really want a 15.6" with a separate numeric keypad, but that limits me to the probook. Though the new probook 6545b looks promising
