Amazon.com has the DM1z with the E-450 for $399.99 with free shipping. Up until recently it has frequently cost $450-$500.

Amazon.com: HP Pavilion dm1-4142nr Entertainment PC 11.6-Inch Laptop (Charcoal): Computers & Accessories

The E-450 has improvements over the E-350 with a 1.65GHz CPU vs 1.60GHz, utilizes 1333MHz vs 1066MHz DDR3 RAM, and has a GPU of 600MHz vs 500MHz. This results in GPU improvements of about 25-30% over the E-350.

I ordered one direct from HP for $400 recently. I will post benchmarks as soon as I can after mine arrives.

    $375 now!

I ordered mine from HP for $394. I guess I'll have to call and get a price reduction or return it for the Amazon model. I might have to return mine anyhow because wi-fi adapter is super slow.

Just started my suite of benchmark tests. So far in general it's looking like about a 20% improvement both CPU and GPU tests. Even though the CPU is only 1.65GHz vs 1.60GHz of the E-350, the 1333MHz RAM seems to help quite a bit. The GPU gets a double benefit of 1333MHz RAM plus speed boost to 600MHz vs 500MHz.

So up to you. If your current DM1z is in good shape you can sell it for $200-$250 profit, the newer one will cost about $150 difference then. If you don't play games then I don't think it's worth it, but if you want to play games you'll gain anywhere from 2-6 fps in most games. That means a previous 25 fps game could be 30fps or better. I'll be running Skyrim, SC2, Crysis 2, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, and a few others I can't think of at the moment, just to get an idea for actual gaming improvement.

To be honest with Trinity around the corner, it might be best to wait a couple months if you can. Only reason I bought the DM1z was because I got water damage to my LCD on my EEE 1215b. Although it would have only cost $80 to replace the LCD, I guess I just used it as an excuse to buy a new laptop. :p

Funny thing is after letting my Eee 1215b sit for about a week the LCD seems to be working fine now with only a slight water stain around the lower left.

Considering that my Dm1z is mainly for word processing and internet, I think i would be best to just stick with it. Thanks for the heads up though.

Looks like you can turn around and sell the 1215b to re-coup some of the cost.

Well, I may keep it. My kids' have two old netbooks and have seen a lot of abuse. The 1215b will make a good backup for when one of those break which is inevitable. I've already changed the keyboards twice. It's only a matter of time before stuff gets inside the machine and frys it.
