HP DV4-1028- Big Lots closeout- $599

In the Sunday, 10/26 sales circular for (of all places) Big Lots.....the front page has a large picture of the HP-DV4-1028 with an "$8 million closeout!" banner and a $599 sale price. This is a fairly large price drop when compared to what Circuit City is selling this for. Am curious as to why HP is "closing out" this particular model......

(Yes this is for the upcoming 10/26 ad that will be in your newspaper in a week and a half)

 

because they don't like that model number lol,
"HP-DV4-1028" and it's assosaited specs. will simply be renamed to something else like "HP-DV4-1029" once all the ones that are labled HP-DV4-1028 are gone they will replace it with something else.

It is more marketing than anything else. but still a good deal.

 

It sounds like Big Lots is having a closeout sale to shut the store down...

 

I want to get one of these. It will be at all the big lots? I know the ad comes out on 10/26. Does that mean thats when the computer will be available, or can I pick it up earlier?

 

qwestman - 10/26 is when this price point begins. It couldn't hurt to call ahead and check it out beforehand though. I only know since I work in advertising and see sales preprints ahead of time... Good Luck!

 

..big lots sells laptops?

...for some reason this seems fishy, lie a too good to be true... $200 below a national retailer in a less popular national retailer of home goods? even if first national retailer may soon be going out of business.

 

Well, I assure you Magicvii that this is indeed splashed across the front of their 10/26 ad that will be in newspapers. The reason I posted this was because I was as surprised as you are that Big Lots even bought computer overstock. I don't want to risk my job by trying post a scan of the ad, but everyone will see it themselves soon enough. *shrugs*

Also, on the bottom of the page is featured a '20" Samsung LCD Monitor' model 2053BW for $180.

 

It's confirmed! I called my local Big Lots and asked about it. They told me, indeed, they are going to be selling a hp laptop. They weren't able to give me any other details such as: when they are going to be selling it or what the model number is. However, They did say they were going to be receiving the shipment either this monday or the next monday. I will be the first in line to pick it up!!!

Well thanks FireFawn. Don't want ya to risk your job or anything. Would love to buy this comp.. even t hough it doesn't come with discrete graphics... but price difference is good enough.

Was just wondering on the price... would seem the laptops would be refurbished for that price or something.

Guess I'm getting my original choice for laptop and not a U330 or Sony SR... if only I had more money; stupid economy.

What's the general quality of this laptop line?

 

i'm up visiting in washington checking out schools and work when my dad told me about this and he grabbed one for me back at home, i went to check out the local biglots here and they were sold out but the chick said they were expected to get another laptop this comming up sunday (Nov 1st) so its worth keepen an eye out in the ads next sunday or hit up the website at midnight to check the ad online.

she said all she could remember was it only had 2 gigs of ram and she couldnt remember if it was $399 or $499.

the store i went to was brand new and the lady may be nuts so take this info with a grain of salt but it doesent hurt to check it out especially if your lookin for something cheap.

also yea they came from circuit city but its not a close out there so i dont think this specific model is being phased out, i am guessing that because of the way the economy has been they havent been able to sell them off and they were so back logged they decided to cut their losses and sell them off to big lots to just get rid of them, if you have stock of an item that just sits arround it tends to cost the company money over time.

also you might be able to get circuit city to beat the price at biglots of they still do that price gaurentee thing, i think theirs is 5% or 10% off, but this is just thinkin off the top of my head

This is a really good deal....I can't find the Big Lots ad anymore - the one that comes up now has a different notebook.
