The HP Parts Store currently has the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 Mobile CPU for a very low US $502.55. The price of this CPU is usually well over US $1,000. Standard shipping and delivery is US $11.25.

Yeah, shoulda kept this one under wraps....
Ah well.
This will get yanked pretty quick either that or HP is trying to dump excess QX9300 inventory to make room for i7 mobile parts... -
could this have fit in my laptop? the Sony in my sig?
-
Same, Would this fit the SXPS 16?
-
Doubtful it would work on the Dell. I don't know about the Sony, but if you can customize it on the site w/ a quad core then it would work, else probably not either.
-
Nice price
-
too bad I can't configure an HDX18 with that price
-
!
I guess I have to buy this processor first and take out the processor I was going to buy in my to-be-laptop and wait till the laptop goes on sale and go with my pre-configured system w/o the processor. Then, when I get my new laptop (HDX18T) I can just pull out the processor that comes with the HDX18T and punch in the new QX9300. Or is there really a "mobile" i7 coming out and is this really a get-rid sale for HP? By the way do any of you know when HP will start Laptop sales for HDX? Its August 3rd and I'm getting a bit anxious because School is only one month away (Back to School sales).
EDIT: I just bought my HDX18T and bought this Processor with expedited shipping
I'm soo excited -
don't assume it'll be that simple. Be sure to consult the aftermarket parts & upgrades forum to see if that mobo can handle this processor.

Is this part a genuine product that has everything like a heatsink and etc?
I was on chat and the customer service agent assured me EVERYTHING sold on the HP Parts Store is Genuine (Meaning it has everything as if Intel directly sold it to me) -
I just got mine today. No heatsink because not all heatsinks are the same. It does come with a alcohol wipe and thermal grease.

I was wondering if my new computer will be able to handle this new processor (QX9300). The part # of the heat sink I need to get is 512184-001. I am wondering if my mobo can handle this? I heard some talk that some mobo's can't handle it (processor). Can you check my specs so that you can verify whether or not the QX9300 + the heatsink in my brand new laptop will work? Thanks.

You probably should go to the HP owners thread with that question. I can tell you two things, first if the laptop is sold with the processor your motherboard will support it. If HP had a different motherboard for different processors it would just cost them more money to produce. Second I've never see the same notebook sold with different heatsinks based on the proc. At least not in the newer systems. HP, Dell, lenovo and the other big companies mass produce these things and to have different types of motherboards or heatsinks in a single model would be stupid.
With that said I don't currently own an HP system so check with those folks to make sure everything will work for you. -

electrosoft Perpetualist Matrixist
Aye, you can not use Bing Cashback for this. I tried every which way to see if it was doable, and it is not.
-
really? so if you enter via the bing portal it does not stay with you and give you credit
have you gone through the entire transaction to see if it shows up? -
will this fit in the sony sr? i currently have a p8600. If it does, i will need to mess with the bios huh, or am i wrong
-
Check the Sony forums. Probably get a better response there.

It's actually amazing how many system officially support the 920 or 940. M15x, M17x, Clevo x8100, W860CU, W870CU, W880CU, x8100....Any others? I know with the G73 it works but last I saw it wasn't officially supported.
