This would make a good budget all-around multimedia machine. Screen and 90-day warranty are the only downsides.

Would this be decent for modest gaming you think?

Forgot to mention, but this has been mentioned to have the A8-3510mx processor. Maybe a little bump in performance.

    Does it? I read A8-3500m.

Although I LOL'd at this in the description: " Windows 7 Home Premium comes pre-installed so you'll be able to easily create a home network."

I'm tempted to buy one as a media center. ... MUST ... RESIST ... !!!

edit: just realized I can build a media center / HTPC with new desktop parts for < $250...

Can't guarantee, but from people who have gotten this specific model, have mentioned they have received it with the A8-3510mx processor instead of the A8-3500m.

Good question. It's hit or miss. Many of us have repasted the CPU and GPU with great improvement. Others have had it run great out of the box.

wish I could build an HTPC < 250$.... every time I try to cost out a build questions like "hmm... do i need to water cool this?, I want the temps really low, what about a 60gb ssd for the OS...makes it faster to turn on... discrete gpu or built in... what if i wanted to game on my t.v."...

sigh... always ends up with 600$

anyway sorry for the OT, really good price for the specs.

Well, for slim case with 300W PSU, motherboard, CPU, and RAM it's like $225 shipped. I already have an SSD + HDD to throw in it and DVD/Blu-ray is not needed, although may throw Blu-Ray in later.

    I wouldn't even think about gaming on it, although could throw in a half-height 6670 for $100 and Blu-ray for $60. That's still < $400!
