HP discountinued the Touchpad. It's being blown out right this second. $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB.
It goes live on the normal hp.com website tomorrow. It's already live in Canada. Best Buy should match.
You can already buy it tonight through the academic problem. I bought two tonight. Pretty much anyone who's every been to college or has a kid that is past preschool age qualifies for the academic program. You'll see the $99 price once you sign up for the academic program.
Use coupon SAVE15HP to get $15 off. Use SAVE30HP to get $30 off if you buy more the $150 worth of stuff.
You can also try for up to 6% cashback as well.

Target has already matched on their store through Amazon.
-
yup, ordered 2 earlier
-
Yeah good luck getting it. I heard the swines on a deal site are using fraudulent Army codes to get it, (not being affiliated in any way to the Army)..and they are also ordering 10 to 20 at a time. Farking pigs.
Ruins it for the rest of us that just want one... -
HP is so dumb. They should have dropped the price before they quit on webOS. Maybe they would have gotten more users.
-
I hate those kind of people too.
-
-
-
^^Thanks, but that only part of my disappointment..the majority is people ordering more than they need to profit, and it ruins it for those that just want 1 or 2 (for a friend/family member).
Anyway, there may still be a chance I can get it in the morning if availi' then. -
Keep on eye on Amazon. The price is due to change tomorrow according to DailyTech (I'm assuming at 12:01am).
Amazon.com: HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 16 GB 9.7-Inch Tablet Computer: Computers & Accessories
It's $398.00 right now... a pity I wont be able to get one though. -
-
Very tempting but even at those prices I wouldn't buy one, I would just wait a month till current Andorid tablets drop in price when the new Android 4.0 tablets arrive at retail.
Get the HP now for $150 (probably little to no updates and support given the news of HP exit from personal computers) or get a Transformer in a month for $200 with Android 3.0 and Tegra2 (maybe possible to update to Android 4.0). Tough call but I think I'mma stick with the Android tablet and Firefox 7. -
Hoping I can get one in the am if things work out..
-
And if you notice the big green words at Amazon
In Stock.
I wonder how long that will last. -
I read that HP is still supporting and developing WebOS. Seriously I would not expect them to say anything other than that in order to move the potential millions of HP TouchPads in their inventory. I read that other retailers have threatened to unload their stock on HP.
I think most won't have a problem finding one for a least 30 days. It took Microsoft at least 1 year to unload their Zune HD backlog which btw I love. -

o man im so gonna try and get one tomorrow at best buy when they open up
-
I would totally buy this but the smaller app store is stopping me! I'm all about the apps, versatility, and usability.
-
Would this be a good tablet for general "computer" use? For example, YouTube, web browsing, etc.? I understand there's very little app development, so I might be interested in one for $100 (have a gift card, so actually no cost to me) and use it like a "light", small, extra portable laptop.
Furthermore, with potentially millions of these being liquidated, is there a small percentage for app development from the millions of potential new users? Or all together, is the OS and app development essentially "dead"?
Thanks! -
i am enrolled in the hp academic program, but i don't see that reflecting the price on the tablet. I'm i doing something wrong?
-
If your trying to order from HP, I saw a comment on Engadget, saying "HP sold out, about an hour ago".
Other outlets like BestBuy, Amazon, Office Depot, Staples, etc. are supposed to be cutting the price.
FWIW, Officedepot has a "banner" on the homepage, for $129. I took a few screenshots with my phone, just in case they have them, but it's the "old" pricing of $399. [which is where I have my gift card to] I mean, how can they not honor a price on their own website? -
I am hoping to snag one at a brick and mortar store. I'm sure to visit my Best Buy and OfficeDepot tomorrow since they are in the same plaza. I hope my local MicroCenter slashes the prices because their website states my location has plenty in stock!
I looked on Best Buy's website and they state for both 16 and 32gb models, they are not available online nor in stocks. I did hear that Best Buy wants to return their unsold stock back to HP so they may be a no go. -
I also placed an order online for the 16GB and selected the option to pay with "cash". So if they aren't going to honor their $129 price, I'll just "cancel" my order and walk away. -
Saw this on TPCR before coming here and seeing it posted here as well, this is cool!
I told myself if it drops to/ below $100 I'm buying one...guess what, I'm getting myself one
And it is just such a coincidence I'll be heading right by Best Buy, Target, and a ton of other stores at 11-12 Saturday, sweetness! -
Target doesn't sell them either.. At least the ones local here don't.
Furthermore, unless you live in a small town, I have a feeling they will be selling quickly - might want to get there when the stores first open. -
From reviews it's a pretty good tablet for general use like web surfing, YouTube, videos and eBooks but don't go buy one and expect new apps, firmware or updates with WebOS.
The screen is suppose to pretty good, WiFi is dual band N and the CPU can be easily and safely OCed to 1.5Ghz from 1.2Ghz; videos run really well, sound with Beats Audio is pretty good and the battery life a very acceptable.
Now the bad: The overall tablet performance is sub par, firmware is kinda buggy (even with latest), WebOS is not optimized even though it's better with 3.0.2 and all in all the tablet and OS is just plain slow.
PS. I might just grab one as a trophy so that I can have at least one HP thing to remind me of their big failure and I might use it for web surfing and videos on my bed. -
There was an Ebayer who sold 10 of the 16GB units for $47 each with free shipping.
Walmart has changed the new pricing on their website. -
Damn, wish I had seen this yesterday. They're all gone now.
Amazon is still full price too.
If someone happens to find one 32GB preferably, but I won't be picky, I'll be happy to reimburse you for the cost + shipping + a few bucks for your trouble! -

I am definitely gonna head up to Walmart, Target, Office Depot, etc but at this point I am not getting my hopes up. These went really fast, apparently
-
I'd try Office Depot for those who are looking for one. Even though the website said there wasnt any in stock at the store I went to, they ended up having quite a few. -
I was at Office Depot a little after 9 AM, I picked up the last they had, a 32gb version for $150 -this is the one I wanted anyways... Though, Walmart had several units still
Its a nice little entertainment tablet for sure -typing this from it now -
Dammit, tied down with kids, can't get out to look for one. Oh well, just money down the drain I'm sure.
-
There is an office depot beside my apartment... Hopefully I can get a deal like Agent 9 Mentioned.
-
-
I was tempted to buy one and missed out on one and i'm glad. I'd rather put that money towards the next Samsung Android Tablet. -
-
Best Buy is returning their stock to HP. So they'll likely have them on their site again in the near future.
-
I want one, sooo badly, but all the stores in my area are out. Blah. Rumor is, Best Buy sent all theyre units to HP, and they will update their stock ASAP.
-
Also, if anyone goes to a store and finds an extra 16GB one, and want a few extra bucks, I'd pick it up off you in a heart beat for retail+tax, shippping to here and a few extra dollars.

I heard that BB was not going to sell them anymore
-
They aren't shipped all quarter-million of them back.
-
OfficeMax shows they have 16GB available but "in store only". No way to order online then pick them up. Amazon still hasn't dropped their price though. Waiting to see what happens there.
-
I checked all OfficeMax's in my area, nothing.
-
I finally got one. A friend was able to order and I will purchase from him when it arrives (for same price) !
-
i would've tried to get one if android was bootable on it. i couldn't find any evidence it is though. i hope everybody gets their money's worth out of it. i was hoping webOS would do much better because i'm tired of the apple fanboys/girls shoving their ipads and phones in my face still.
-
That would be the place to look for Android roms cooking, if any.
-
Go to irc and look at #touchdroid. A LOT of movement and dev is going on.
-
FutureShop here in Canada still has a huge stock in their warehouse according to one stores if anyone is interested.
-
Which FutureShop?
I know of a few other online retailers that have a lot in stock but they haven't dropped their prices yet. -

My next stop was to Walmart, they said "sold out". I then go to Radio Shack which is across the street from the Walmart I got rejected and right next to Staples. I asked the RS dude if they had the TouchPad, he said they don't sell them. I then asked if Staples next door had any, he said he wasn't sure but one of his employees was walking next door to buy one.
I found out they had 2 left, one for the family at the cash register and the other for the RS employee who got there first.
HP Touchpad 16GB for $85, 32GB for $135.
