It's a good deal...but the screen resolution ~ if you can deal with 1366x768 ~to me, that is kind of low resolution for a 15.6!! But that's just my opinion! ;)

Wow, good price for what you're getting. Wonder how the dv6t chassis will handle heat, and what battery life this machine can get.

This is what I was thinking as well. If it had a higher res i might look into it more.

Agreed, and I'm a broken record at this point but I am a strong advocate of higher resolutions. In my experience it allows for higher productivity. With only 768 pixels of vertical space, you can barely see half a page of a Word document, not to mention all the scrolling necessary on web pages and the like.

The dv6t is a nice machine and if they offered a higher-res display I would consider upgrading. I like having a built-in numpad.

Can't you just choose the higher screen res?

Well crud, I was just about to order it as soon as I got home, and now the coupon isn't working anymore... :( I guess I won't get a notebook after all. Do you think that I could call the sales number and get them to give me the $200 off? Also, when do you think the next time they'll have a $200 or more off coupon?

[Edit: Called them and Carmen on the sales team helped me out and got me the discount. :) HP Pavilion dv6t Quad Edition is on the way!]

Regarding fingerprint reader: hardware-wise, fingerprint readers are all similar, so I doubt there are any problems there. I do not know about driver support, with Windows 7 the drivers may be immature, so it's hard to say. Post in the HP subforum to get better responses.

Regarding battery life: with a discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 230M (a fairly power hungry card, at least compared to integrated graphics) and an i7 processor, you should be expecting to sacrifice battery life. On a 6-cell battery, I would not be surprised to get 1.5 hours of real constant semi-intensive usage out of it. You could probably stretch it to 2-3 hours without too much issue, I would think.
