San Jose Mercury News | San Jose Shopping - Computers & Electronics - Fry's Electronics

It's listed in San Jose and in Dallas so it's pretty much chain-wide.

The SKU number (6231310) doesn't come up on the website so this is an in-store special only. Considering that it's probably the 7K500 model it's going to be screamingly fast in any laptop and offer tons of space.

It was just on sale the other day for $64 and now it's $20 less, amazing. Doesn't say if it's a refurb at all but I'm going to seriously doubt it - I've never seen refurbs from Hitachi at Fry's, ever. Western Digital, all the time, even Seagates and Maxtors, but never Hitachi's so these are most likely brand new drives.

And here I am broke again... and it's my 5th wedding anniversary so any money I might have used just went towards a dinner tonight for the Wife and I.

    Crap. :)

(posted this around so people at other forums know about it as well... absolutely smoking deal, I swear)

More like "Darn you people who live near a Fry's and have the money and time to actually make the trip to go buy one, or two! Darn you all to heck! ;)

If I had the money I would have been at the door at 7:55AM waiting patiently to run to the components area and snag two of 'em, I swear. But alas... life gets in the way sometimes...

Just checked my local Fry's and they were still $64. Doesn't look like it's a nation-wide deal :(

The 2.5" form factor usually means it's for laptops.

There is no mention of 2.5" form factor in the deal. I bought this HD last week for $64. It is still listed at $64 at frys.com
