I am looking to buy a new notebook, and I want to get a good deal. I have read the thread about how to get special deals from sales reps, and I've tried all the tips, but none of them worked. All three times that I asked for a quote (2 at Dell, 1 at HP), the rep directed me to purchase it online, they wouldn't give me a quote themselves. Are the reps, still allowed to give special deals, or did something change. Any new tips would be great.
Thanks for any help.

I always try to keep a lookout for coupons in this section of the forum.

Do people just give out coupon numbers?

yea, people posts lots of coupon codes on this forum. It makes it really easy to see what new deal each company has to offer.
I think the question is when is the best time to buy a laptop? I bought this laptop on black friday (day after thxgivings), but it was a low end amd.
