    I wouldn't saw "awesome"

CPU isn't great, only 512mb ram, and integrated graphics. Nice HDD though and a dvd burner

I saw that in the ad this week. What kind of user would you say this is good for? I don't think it's durable enough for me, but I'm thinking of it for my parents....

For the love of God...do not buy from CompUSA!!!! I went shopping for a laptop for my mom around Christmas time at CompUSA. One store refused to sell it to me without me signing a waiver indicating I did not want their extended warranty. They even went as far as taking me into the repair room to show me all the laptops that needed to be fixed. The manager did not even bring the laptop in the box out to me before all this. FYI, this was at the Edison, NJ store.

Another store's manager (and not the salesperson) essentially told me I bought a $1,600 paper weight after I declined the extended warranty. At least they brought the laptop out before I declined their warranty. This was at the Montgomeryville, PA store.

Only reason I went to the Montgomeryville store after the Edison incident was I thought Edison was a fluke. Previous experience at the Springfield, NJ store was pleasant and pressure free. I'll never shop for a computer at CompUSA again.

Kinda figured the sales or manager makes a commission on the extended warranty plan....wanted to charge $500 for a 3 year warranty. At that price I would rather buy Sony's extended warranty plan. I take it the profit margin on laptops aren't that much if they were willing to lose the sale. Interesting experience overall.

laptop/computer margin is very little if any and sometimes on sales is actually below store cost, warranty plans are usually very high margin like a 250 dollar warranty plan at store cost is like 100 dollars. so well over 50%. cool thing is since i work at compusa, if i buy a computer, not just from compusa anywhere I can buy the warranty for it at store cost :p so i can get 2 years/screen protection for 100 dollars on most laptops under 1200 dollars. regular cost to customers i believe on that one is 249.99. compusa is very competitive :p and thrives on selling extended warranty plans on everything possible.

Just bought an Acer 5672 for $999 after rebate from CompUSA in Framingham MA. Sales guy (highly "decorated" Platinum level sales person) explained the service policy they sell, how good it is, etc.....to me when I came in to look, but when I returned to buy the unit he merely asked me if he had explained the plan to me (he had) and when I declined, he said nothing...no pressure, although I was expecting it. He was super.
