I've been watching this computer.. for no good reason really and the price from last night to tonight just dropped a ton. The base model is now $557.99 and I can really spec the thing out with a T9300 2gb of ram and 8400GS for under $900.. but the thing is that is with an educational discount so I'm wondering if my discount just jumped or is there a new sale?

I would but I really want to try something other than HP. I have a dv6113us right now. Nothing is bad about it except for the battery failing after about a year, and it does get uncomfortably warm because of the amd dual core cpu. But this seems like a really good deal though: t9300, 2gb ram, 8400 gs for under $900.

How's the battery life on this with the 12 cell battery?

Battery losing life after time is REALLY common, especially if you leave it in while it's already charged. If you want to preserve battery life then only leave the battery in while you are using it or while it needs to be charged. If it's charged and you're running on the ac adapter take the battery out. If you leave it in you'll kill it quite quick.

The t9300 will run a lot cooler than the amd dual core. You can get the t8100 which is also one of the penryn processors and should serve you well for just $800 with otherwise same specs.

Not sure about how long the battery life on that one is.. quite sure someone knows. I never pay any attention to battery life myself as it's never been important to me.
