+rep just got the 1TB My Book for like $80.26 + $1.50 for the cupon. Its not the GREATEST deal in the world, but its a pretty darn good one, more so if you want an external drive instead of internal and dont mind being restricted to USB only.

I think I need to move to internal drives next though or just build my windows home server, as external drives are starting to eat my desk and I have like 4 empty HDD bays in my PC.

Actually thinking back on it, I could probably just rip the enclosure off and sell it for $10 on ebay :p make net cost like $75 for a 1TB drive, thats pretty good.

Nice sale. I just picked up another Seagate FreeAgent Go 500GB.

I don't really need another, but at this price, it's good to have around.

    Thanks for the heads up!

I hear you. I've been backing up my entire DVD collection to hard drives and have gone through about 15 portables. I have them also backed up to desktop hard drives, but keep the portables for travel, and as a second backup.

Only a couple of months ago, I thought 320GB portables were the way to go, but these 500GBs are sweet.

And to think a few years ago I thought I could never fill up the 80GB drive in my laptop...

Good deals, I just saw the WD drive in the ads bundled with the Sunday morning paper.

    :D
In February 1999, I purchased from Compusa an HP-something or other desktop...at the time it was relatively cutting edge. Because that desktop has been landfill for many years now, I don't remember the specs but I swear it had something on the order of a 12GB hard drive.

I moved up to 2 Sony Vaio RX-861 desktops in January 2003, and they had a massive, at the time, 80GB hard drive. It took me FOREVER just to fill up the first partition...20GB.

Now, I scoff at 320GB portable and 500GB desktop hard drives. :D

Back when Maxtor came out with the first breakthrough 80GB 5400 RPM HDD for $300, I remember filing it rather easily. For multimedia files, there just never seems to be enough space.

Just picked up a 1.5TB Seagate Freeagent Desktop from Costco. The price was $139.99 but I had a coupon for $30.00, bringing the cost to $109.99..

I know, I know...these have been reported to be unreliable at times, but I figure I would try it out, and if it fails within the first 90 days, it goes back to Costco. I have to check if it is covered by Costco's Concierge program. I also have to check whether it is subject to the Costco 90 day return policy...it might fall under the more generous policy covering other items. I need to check, for sure.

I figure this would give me the oppotunity to try it out as a secondary back up (back up to a back up) without risk.

As of right now, the deals are still live. The $25 off $75 coupon is also valid, and I believe the last day to redeem is May 4. However, there might be another coupon available then to "extend" the date.

As mentioned, a $30 off $150 coupon also exists. The entire coupon listing is available at http://www.e-junkie.com/SDers, from SDer Deliver.

Update: The deals will expire on Saturday, May 9. As I just learned, Staples is having a sale because they are celebrating an anniversary. You can find the full listing of anniversary deals at http://www.staples.com/office/suppl...01&identifier=HC2SC1187&catalogIdentifier=HC2.

I was thinking how convenient this would be for a matrox TH2Go "starter kit"

3x19" is the most optimal setup for ease and price.

the Acer is not a super high quality monitor, but it gets the job done and with 3 monitors you dont really "see" the outter two its just for surround/perifial vision.

I absolutely adore my 37" single screen but one day I really do wanna do the 3x monitor setup with probably a HD projector above it on the wall incase I want a single large screen for games that dont support 3 monitors or for movies.

Just look at the impact on gameplay, and you really cant "see" it unless you view it in person with the 3 monitors surrounding you.
