Its got some trade offs and is debatable. Same cache, but the t9900 is faster, but does run warmer (but cooler then the x9100). Think of it as an OCed version of the p9600 if you were to increase the FSB from 1066 to 1333 (or would that be 3.33Ghz? Anyone know what the multipliers are on the p9600?), only your paying $340+s/h for it.

I'm upgrading from a p8400, that is worth it.

The MacBooks that I've opened all had the CPU soldered to the mobo, I would try looking your model number up.

From what I'm reading, they are still soldered on. Would really be nice though.

w00t, CPU arrived! Nice little package, they send everything but a screw driver. That's OK, it will keep me from installing it until I get home where I have some AS5 waiting.

I just came across this deal and I am thinking about buying one for my Gateway P-6831FX. I know they are both P sockets but I would like to know if this chip will work. I currently have the T5450.

    Thanks

I believe it won't, you can ask in the gateway section for more info.

I believe so, that's the same CPU I just upgraded from, I don't know about BIOS or heat.

Installed and running, w00t. Will run tests and stuff over the weekend and the next week.
