I was surfing around and came across this ad:
http://www.e-junkie.com/shop/product/44217.php
The price is very good, but before i paypal this guy almost 1500 bucks, i want to get some opinions on it.
I sent him and email, saying this:
Then he sent back a fairly prompt and readable email that said this:
What do you guys think? is it safe to paypal this "Patrick Greg" guy 1450$ - I know paypal has a claims service, but i also know that it isn't that reliable.
Should i just skip it and buy from a more reliable source, mabye on ebay?
-
All i know is they are going to be rolling out new MBP's i would hold off just for the fact of that.
-
Yeah i was thinking about that, but I'm not going to be able to afford 2000$ for one of those anyway i don't think.
Plus they were rumored to be coming out like at the beginning of the month, and still nothing... when will they come?
next tuesday mabye? -
Money Gram...sounds scammy to me. Insist on sending 40% then 60% both via PayPal.
To be honest, I don't think the guy is legit...maybe I'm wrong, but IDK. -
-
sounds scammy.. remember... nothing comes free in this world.
-
I just checked...these guys don't even have a ResellerRatings page. I'd personally say avoid.
-
even with the ADC discount.. t he 2.4GHz doesnt come that cheap.. <_< while most people sell theirs for around the ADC price even if its USeD!
beware. rawr LOL -
I think i might just man up and wait for the new MBP then pay full price for it from apple.com (-student discount) -
-
lol i knew you were gonna ask about it!
so heres the link
http://developer.apple.com/students/sthardware.html
making a MBP $1600 -
with ADC which is for porgrammers you get %20 off your system.
-
I am a student, but not really a programmer -
oh, you have to pay the 99$ membership fee to become a member? so you can buy the computer?
hmmmm.... am i allowed to do that? -
yea theres a $99 fee. basically any student is allowed. but it is suggested to know some programming tech since then you will actually have some use for that $99 program.
-
so if i paid the 99$ adc membership fee, then bought the macbook with it, it would be 1600+99
so the cost would be 1699 vs 1799 for the student discount or 1999 for full price.s
So it would save me a hundred dollars plus i get a free 99$ program that i wont use -
roughly, yes.
-
-
-
That sounds like shady deal to me, I say stay away from it.

wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso
Personally I'd recommend a dell D830 or a thinkpad T61P
Better processors (penryn), better availibility of screen resolutions (WUXGA or WSXGA+ as compared to WXGA+ on the MBP), inexpensive 3 year warranty, etc etc etc. You can dual boot with linux (check out our linux forum) if you like unix type OS
And most important, about $600-800 cheaper than an equivalent MBP
-
Brandon,
I hope you are aware that the new MBPs were released today, and thus Amazon is having a huge sell on the old gen MBPs. I think it was like 1600 bucks or even cheaper...
Is this deal too good to be true on macbook pro?
