Unfortunately my notebook was recently stolenand I'm desperate to replace it! I'm looking at Dells as I'm very tempted by the $750 discount coupons, but I was wondering if anyone knows if prices are likely to drop significantly in January? Would it be worth holding off buying for a few weeks? I'm buying in the US for the first time so I'm not really sure what post-Christmas deals are like.
Thanks for any advice!![]()

I've been researching laptops for the last year (I still haven't got the guts to buy one) and from what I've learned, the best time to buy is Jan-Feb post-christmas sales, the second best time to buy is christmas sales, and the third best time to buy is at the end of business quarters when companies try to inflate revenues.

Oh yeah, same here, same here, I was researching for almost a year to get a notebook and then my dad finally got tired and just bought me a DV4000 from Costco for school because even after a couple of days of college, I hadn't decided on a notebook!
You sure theres some good deals between January and Februrary? What kind of deals did you see in January-Februrary 2005???? -
what you are looking at today is going to be a better deal in 3-4 months simply because it is older as they are replaced by newer. You can drive yourself crazy trying to time the market.
One thing I have noticed is stores like CircuitCity won;t drop their prices till near the end of january to avoid paying off on the 30 days price match garuntee.
January price reductions?
