Ever since I missed the 1049.00 deal for the Gateway 6860fx, I have been down in the dumps. I have watched Ebay and the classifieds ads for for the past few weeks trying to recapture that deal. No such luck. Best Buys price went back up to the 1350.00, which is still a good deal.

Today I tried a different approach. I went to the Gateway website to see if they had any outlet deals. Nope, I then decided to daydream over the higher models that they have. The P-173x fx and the P-173xl fx. Low and behold I see that the P-173x fx is on sale for 1350.00! I start to consider taking up this deal, but it said that it's sold out. I decided to chat with a online rep to see when the stock would be replenished. He checks his inventory and says that he has a couple in stock. I start to backpedal because now I am not sure if I wanted to spend this much money. I keep bringing up the fact that BB had a similar computer for 1050.00. He starts to point out the differences between the two (6860fx vs. 173x fx). He then says because the BB computer has a larger hard drive he will discount $100.00 off my potential order making it 1249.00 (I guess that he didnt realize that it was only a 5400 vs. 7200). I then ask him about tax and shipping he says in total the price would be 1362.58. I still sounded hesitant, so he says that he would do a rock bottom price of 1300.00 delivered to me. That's a 312.00 savings over the original price. :) SWEET!

I agree - NICE deal....I wonder if I can get some dust off a M-153XL like that? 17" is just too big for me.
