This thing is suppose to be worth over $300...But this guy is selling it for $29. Is it fake?

Just got 3.
Time to wait and see how this turns out. -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Very slow for a drive that size.
Data transfer rates of up to 20MB/sec. read and 10MB/sec. write -
that seems fairly typical to me, that's how my other usb flash drives are.
-
So does this thing accept music and video files?
-
i don't see why not?
-
But that'll be solved by a NTFS reformatting. -
At this price, I was tempted to buy more than one, but I'm really starting to hurt for cash, so I think 1 for now is still awesome.
I mean, 128gb for 29 bucks is crazy for a flash drive.
Thanks OP! -
anyone got one of these yet? I'm interested but wondering if they are fake.
-
I bought 3...i hope they're not bogus insofar as they say 128gb but really only hold 4gb or what have you.
-
I'd be very surprised if it wasn't the China flash drive scam. It will report as being 128 GB, but when you try to write that much to the drive, you'll start getting error messages. Might only actually be an 8 GB flash drive. That price is too good to be true.

^^^^
What she said. I wouldn't bite at all. -
Forum member les had a similar experience but with sd cards...his was also 29 bucks.

if you bought this then I think the ban hammer should visit you
But I purchased a 16 gig for 25$ on ebay and it turned out just fine -

Why should you get banned for being ripped off

I bought a couple of 8GB Sony PSP memory sticks from ebay/China, knowing they were 100% fake but guess what they both work, a little slower than a MagicGate memory stick but it fills up real nice to 8GB. -
make this place alot less cluttered -
If they do ship something, I'll keep whatever they send and get a refund; if not, I'll just get a refund.
I've grown somewhat accustomed to taking chances with these scams. -
64 GB of NAND flash memory costs $118 to purchase wholesale in large quantities for device manufacturing, according to iSuppli (see chart). And that doesn't include retail markup, shipping costs, etc. 128 GB presumably would cost about double that.
So, sorry... there's just no way this is real... the price is off by at least a factor of ten. -
Wait .....are we missing some important aspects of this sale?
1. He has 100% reputation;
2, These are Kingston, not a noname brand; and
3. These are even on the Kingston site...albeit for $547 eheh.

Wait.....all jewellry and now this unbelievable deal....hmmmmmm.....first non-junk jewellery post. -
Those who left the positive feedback only has a score of 10 feedback or less. These ebay newbies probably left positive feedback as soon as they received the item without actually inspecting it. -
Hey...u missed my bottom line though...it was meant as a HEADS UP!!!
Last week there was a similar thing for 10 128Gb Corsair ssds where I am sure it was a Nigerian scam. The seller was in Calgary Canada. All of the bidders had 5 r less reputation in the past 6 months and all purchases by all buyers was less than a buck...
They dropped the ssd auctions in less than 2 hours. -
fakes.. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
-
i purchased 2 of them. if i don't receive it, then ebay will refund me under buyer protection. so i don't see any reasons to not try it.
-
-
Well actually.....Ebay refunds you only if they can do a reverse charge on the account. If Ebay can't get at that money fast enough...your SOL.
I had it happen once a long time ago...
Things may have changed thou if anyone has ever personally been through it. -
If you used your credit card as a funding source for your paypal payment to pay for the item(s)... you may be able to do a chargeback on your credit card.
-
I bought a 16Gb from those Chinese seller awhile ago....
Never buy a flash drive from outside North America ever again. -
, I tried canceling the order after seeing so many ppl think its a scam now.
I just got an email saying it shipped out already. So I guess I'll find out soon enough if its legit or not. Never had to deal with trying to get my money back on ebay, but if this is a scam. I really hope I can get my money back, 30 dollars is still too much to just not care if it gets thrown down the toilet. -

One of the many guides on avoiding this scam. The Kingston Data Traveler Series is one of the known scams, especially 99% of the 128GB or 256Gb drives.
One tip for those who receive this: Counterfeit Kingston does not bundle with software such as 'Migo'. The guide I linked tells you how to quickly tell if the drive is fake. -
Ebay's new buyer protection policy:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/buyer-protection.html
only for US buyers who buy from the US ebay site.
i bought a laptop that wasn't as described and contacted ebay. after a 7day dispute, ebay favored my side and refunded me right away. total of 2 weeks after i received the laptop. then they sent collections after the buyer so ebay can be reimbursed. -
Darn, wish I wouldnt have let my impulse get the best of me now. Thanks for that very informative link Angelic.
Guessing, since its shipped, I'm going to have to wait to receive it before I can file a claim right? -
Ebay recommends you confirm that you received the fraudulent item before filing a claim. The guide I linked gives you the steps you'll most likely need to take.
I just noticed, it's clever of the seller to keep pricing this stuff just a tad bit over 25 dollars...less than 25 means you wouldn't have the protection...less people would buy into the scam if there was no buyer protection. -
-
wow according to EBay he has sold 802 of these... give it a week and I think we will see...
-
Oh man but I just bought an m11x from that guy for $129, wish I had seen this USB drive earlier.

phew, thanks NBR for saving me... I was planning on buying 1 or 2 when I got home tonight. On the other hand... if it wasn't for NBR, I wouldn't have known about the ebay auction
sigh... that's what happens when we outsource everything to China... -
Here's another guy selling the kingston 128GB flash drive for $28.50. I was checking out his feedback rating and 3 people have already received the usb with 2 of the feedback being positive and 1 person giving out 2 neutral feedbacks but in the 2 neutral he says "Good Product, Good Price"
