Buy.com is offering the Kingston V-Series 128 GB SSD with the 2nd-gen JMicron controller (which supports TRIM) for $135 after a $75 mail-in rebate. The rebate is valid on purchases from 1/28-2/2. I wouldn't normally post this, but I have bought Kingston products in the past with MIR, and they were good about fulfilling them.

Edit: If you've never purchased from Buy.com before, you can use a coupon for $10 off a $200 purchase. That brings the purchase price to $199, so the drive would be $124 after rebate.

Just to be clear, this is the older V-Series drive not the V100 that has overly aggressive garbage collection. The rebate is probably part of some kind deal to clear out old stock.

It's also a desktop bundle, so it has the 2.5->3.5 mounting bracket, rather than the USB enclosure the notebook kit has.

Desktop bundle or not, it doesn't matter, will still work. No bracket required for laptop anyhow. Just word of caution. The power useage on this is atrocious. I ended up putting it in my desktop. Performance is great, just not so laptop power useage friendly.

Was just about to come post this one since I saw so many ssd deals posted recently.

This is the best one for the value minded consumer currently.

Right, but Kingston does make a version of this for notebooks with a 2.5" USB enclosure. It's a pretty nice value-add since you can use it in conjunction with the included software to clone your drive. It's a shame that this massive rebate isn't on that particular version since a lot of us here won't have any use for the desktop mounting bracket.

Unless you have a desktop replacement notebook that you never run on battery. ;)

But yeah, this wouldn't be the drive to get if you're concerned about battery life.
